Chapter 829
Connor chimed in, "Diana's over at The Garden. You folks better head over there."
It was 3 AM, and a bunch of cars lined up outside The Garden nightclub. Connor was there too, but not to look for Diana. He was more interested in watching the drama unfold between the Gilbert family and Claire.
Desmond, along with his crew of shady characters, barged in. He wasn't interested in finding Claire just yet. Instead, he followed the address Connor had given him, heading straight for a private room. The door was locked, but that didn't stop Desmond. He had his guys force it open.
Inside, the room was pitch black. Desmond flicked on the light, revealing Diana sprawled on the carpet like a discarded rag doll. Her face was so sunken, she was nearly unrecognizable. Her skin was ghostly pale, and her lips were completely colorless.
Suzanne rushed in as soon as she saw Diana, scooping her up and bursting into tears. "Diana, honey, I found you. I finally found you."
Hearing her mom's voice, Diana barely managed to open her eyes. She looked at Suzanne, struggling to speak. But after going so long without food, her voice was weak and hoarse, barely more than a whisper. "Mom..."
Suzanne was beside herself. "Yes, sweetie, it's mom. I'm here."
"Did he come?" Diana's voice was barely a whisper, but Suzanne heard it loud and clear. She didn't know how to respond. Tears trickled down Diana's face. "He didn't come... He didn't come."
"Diana, please, let it go. Mom's begging you, let him go." Diana suddenly broke into a smile, thennoveldrama

started humming a tune. It was something she'd been doing a lot when she was awake lately. The song was an old classic, "Tomorrow I'm Going to Marry You." But coming from Diana, it sounded haunting and desperate, despite its cheerful melody. She even let out a few
laughs between the notes.
Suzanne cried her heart out and rushed her to the hospital. But once they got there, Diana slipped into a deep coma. The doctors said she hadn't eaten in so long that her stomach was empty, and she was suffering from severe malnutrition, leading to multiple organ failure.
Diana was whisked straight into the ICU, and they issued a critical condition notice. Suzanne stayed by the door, never imagining things would get this dire. It felt like every choice she'd made was wrong. The plan she thought would trap everyone else had backfired, trapping her instead.
After hours of intense effort, Diana finally showed signs of life. But that was all. She remained in a coma. The doctors warned she might never wake up. Her heart had stopped for half an hour, and the lack of oxygen had caused irreversible brain damage. Even though they brought her back, she was likely in a
vegetative state.
When Suzanne heard the grim news, she collapsed, unable to get up. She never thought her vendetta against Claire would cost her daughter's life. Regret hit her hard.
Sitting by Diana's bedside, clutching her hand, she whispered, "I'm so sorry, Diana. Mom is truly sorry." It was Suzanne who had maneuvered Diana towards Connor, step by step. Diana was a part of her plan, a mere pawn. But even as a pawn, she wanted Diana to be happy, to live a peaceful life. She never imagined things would spiral so wildly out of control.
"Diana, I promise you, Mom will get revenge. I'll make sure that mother and son never find peace. It won't be long now."
Meanwhile, news that the Gilbert family had forcibly taken Diana reached Claire. But she couldn't care less. To her, Diana was just a disposable toy. That night, she was lost in her memories. She hadn't expected Connor to show up on her doorstep. Seeing his face threw her back into the worst memories of her past.
