By the time things started to get noisy, Chloe was already dressed.

"The Gilbert family? What are they doing here?" Chloe wondered aloud, eyebrows knitting together. "Is Diana in trouble?"

Lately, Chloe hadn't been going out of her way to keep up with the Gilbert family's drama. But Diana's disappearance had been plastered all over the headlines. It was hard to miss.

Still, Chloe and Connor had their doubts. It could easily be a ploy by the Gilberts, spreading false news to cover for Diana. They were known for their tricks and deceptions.

Connor hadn't expected Desmond and Suzanne to show up at his doorstep, though. As he headed downstairs, he noticed the security guards were still trying to shoo them away.

The security manager approached him quickly. "Mr. Connor, they came with their own bodyguards. We couldn't stop them. Should we call the police?" Connor shook his head, calmly replying, "No need. Mr. and Mrs. Gilbert must have something important to discuss if they're here at this hour."

Suzanne was already on her knees in front of Connor. "Mr. Connor, I'm begging you, please save Diana."

Connor's gaze was icy as he responded, "You must already know about Diana trying to drug and frame Eve and me."

Suzanne tensed up. "Diana was just confused; she loves you desperately. Please, forgive her this once. As her mother, I promise it won't happen again."

Connor remained unfazed. "Eight years ago, you begged me like this, and I made the biggest mistake of my life."

Desperation flashed in Suzanne's

eyes. "But this time, she might really die. Can you live with that? After all these years of protecting her, ean you just watch her die at Claire's hands?"

"Mrs. Gilbert, I'm no saint. You'd better ask my sister for mercy."

Tears streamed down Suzanne's face. "If that would work, I wouldn't be here."

"If you're not willing to help, could you at least return the Gilbert family crest? Claire demands it for Diana's life. Without it, Diana has no chance. I'm begging you."

Connor frowned before replying, "You can have the crest, but it's not here. I can have someone fetch it, but it won't be here until tomorrow at the earliest."
