30 Days till I Divorce My Husband (Estrella and Jason)

Chapter 113

Jason’s casual coolness broke through the awkward tension as he said, “I’ve seen Estrella at her best and her worst, so no need to sweat it on her behalf, Logan.”

Logan lifted his gaze, perplexed by what Jason had just said. What was he getting at? Could it be that Jason and Estrella had crossed a professional line? That sort of scandal had never touched their firm before.

Sure, Logan could handle a proper romance, but if Estrella was cozying up to Jason just to secure the Nelson International legal account, that was a whole other can of worms. he’d rather not open.

While such unethical conduct might fly in other firms, it was a no-go at Justice Guardians LLP. That kind of behavior would not only tarnish their reputation, it could also cast a shadow over their work’s integrity.

As Logan stood there, a portrait of confusion and discomfort, Jason casually wiped the drool from Estrella’s mouth and nonchalantly stated, “Ms. Estrella is my wife.”

__”What?” Logan’s glasses nearly slid off his nose in shock. “Mr. Jason, you’re saying…?”

He trailed off, too embarrassed to finish his sentence, half convinced he was hearing things. Jason reiterated firmly, “Ms. Estrella is my wife. We’ve been married for over two years. So Logan, no need for embarrassment on her part, and you can put any unsavory

rumors to rest.”

Jason knew Logan’s integrity wouldn’t allow for any exploitation of employees. That was why he had been comfortable with Estrella working at Justice Guardians LLP. Otherwise, he would have pulled her from the firm ages ago.

Logan’s jaw might as well have hit the floor when Jason reaffirmed his marital status. Staring at the couple in disbelief, Logan finally managed to say, “So Mr. Jason, you and Estrella are married. No wonder she’s got such… uh…”

Catching himself before saying anything inappropriate, Logan quickly changed tack, “I apologize for any assumptions, Mr. Jason. I didn’t mean any offense. It’s just that…” Property © NôvelDrama.Org.

Jason cut him off with a wave, “Don’t worry about it, Logan. Estrella’s work should proceed as usual. If she slips up, don’t hold back. The company’s policies must be upheld.”

Estrella had kept their relationship under wraps, and Jason understood why. Flaunting her status as Mrs. Nelson could cloud her judgment and shield her from the raw realities of the workplace. It was why he took the time to clarify things with Logan now.

“Mr. Jason, rest assured, we run a tight ship here at the firm,” Logan said with a sheepish grin. “We didn’t press Estrella on personal matters when she joined us. That was an oversight.”

Reflecting on the fact that Estrella had just graduated when she came on board, Logan realized they had verified her resume but hadn’t thought to check her marital status. Now, it all made sense.

As Jason was about to wake Estrella up, she stirred and opened her eyes on her own. Spotting Logan by the window, she instantly became alert. “Logan,” she acknowledged.

Realizing they had arrived at the firm’s building, Estrella guessed the gist of the conversation. She yawned and said, “Guess I’ll head back up to the office then.”

Jason acknowledged her departure with a simple “Hmm.”

After a friendly exchange with Jason, Logan and Estrella headed back to the office together. Inside the elevator, Logan was tempted to ask Estrella why she hadn’t mentioned her relationship with Jason but decided against it, assuming she wanted to keep a low profile.

Pretending to be in the dark about her and Jason’s relationship, Logan couldn’t help but feel a sense of pride. Having Mrs. Nelson choose to work at Justice Guardians LLP was quite a feather in their cap. It wasn’t some murky affair – Estrella was the legitimate Mrs. Nelson.

“Estrella, focus on doing a great job,” Logan advised her as they reached the office. “You’re bound to learn a lot at Justice Guardians LLP and really grow.”

“Sure, Logan,” Estrella replied, slightly puzzled but without pressing further.

She got lost in her work, only leaving when Jesse called to say she was waiting

downstairs. Upon reaching their dinner spot, Bryce was already there, teasing Estrella for neglecting them due to her workload.

As Estrella hung up her coat, revealing a telltale mark on her neck, Jesse’s gaze froze on her. Jesse’s expression turned serious as she asked, “Estrella, has something sparked between you and Jason?”

Jesse’s direct question drew Estrella’s attention, and Bryce also looked at her intently, waiting for her response.

Estrella locked eyes with Jesse and Bryce for a moment, then cracked a smile and said, “Yeah. Hard work pays off. After two years of hard work, I’m about to reach my grand goal.”

Estrella’s casual demeanor made Jesse burst into laughter. “Well, hats off to you, Estrella. We had a deal, remember? I’m to be the godmother when you have a bundle of joy.”

Jesse was genuinely happy for Estrella’s achievement, regardless of whether her future included Jason or not. As long as Estrella was content, Jesse was her cheerleader, offering her unwavering support, no questions asked.

Across the table, Bryce’s mood soured as he listened to Estrella’s words. With a loud

snap, he slammed his cutlery down on the table.

Estrella and Jesse looked up, only to see Bryce’s face, which had been light-hearted moments before, now twisted into a scowl. They had known Bryce for years, but this was the first time they had seen him this upset.

Estrella, sensing Bryce’s irritation, quipped, “Something eating at you?” She was used to his tantrums, but the throwing of silverware was a step too far.

Bryce looked up, his face still cold, and said, “You know exactly what kind of man Jason is. I never approved of you getting that marriage license with him in the first place, and now look at you, sinking even deeper. You think you can change him? And what about all his scandals and issues with Serene? Are they resolved? Do you really want to be a single mom, and to have a child who’s fatherless from the start?”

Before Estrella or Jesse could respond, Bryce continued with a stern face, “I don’t approve of this. Not at all, not in the least.”

No matter what, he couldn’t stand by and watch Estrella get involved with Jason or entertain the thought of raising a child on her own. The predictions of some dime-store fortune tellers had become their gospel truth, and it was driving him up the wall.
