Chapter 1287
Esther was the perfect spokesperson for Pearl.
The reporter glared at her but pressed, "What evidence do you have that she got better after being infected?"
Esther knew he was still trying to challenge Pearl, so she pulled out her medical report and tossed it at him. "Read this."
The reporter was startled when the paper suddenly covered his face. He picked it up and saw Esther's name clearly on it.
"You could have made this up. Miss Pearl is very influential, so it wouldn't be surprising if she arranged a fake report with a doctor."
He still didn't believe it, even with the proof right in front of him. From the start, he aimed to disrupt the press conference and make people doubt Pearl.Belongs to © n0velDrama.Org.
Everyone began talking, thinking his argument made sense.
Seeing his plan succeed, the reporter gave a smug smile. "How can you explain this, Miss Pearl?"
Instead of answering directly, Pearl responded with her own question. "Do you think the whole hospital is in on it?"
The reporter hadn't thought his accusation through, and now, questioned back, he was at a loss for words. He finally realized why Pearl was so hard to undermine. That's why he was paid well.
"It all depends on how much power you have," the reporter said with a forced smile, pushing the challenge back to her.
"If you can't prove your public statements, I could sue you for slander."
The reporter looked away when he heard this. He was hired to stir up trouble, not to end up
in legal trouble. "You can't sue me just for saying that."
Esther pointed at him. "Enough. You, shut your mouth."
The reporter muttered under his breath, but Esther didn't catch it clearly. She thought he
was insulting her and was ready to confront him off-stage.
However, they were at a press conference, and Pearl didn't want any chaos, so she
intervened. "Let's ignore him," she told Esther.
Esther glared at him as if to say, 'You got lucky.'
"Any other questions?" Pearl scanned the room.
Everyone understood Esther's influence and stayed silent. Pearl nodded, satisfied. "Then,
that's it for today."
"Wait, I haven't..." The reporter started to stand up, realizing he hadn't achieved his goal. "I've answered your question. If you keep interrupting, I'll have to take drastic measures." The reporter looked around and saw several security guards in black. He hesitated.
He doubted Pearl would do anything to him in public, but seeing the guards ready to act, he wasn't so sure anymore.
