When fate plays its hand

Hansel burst into his bedroom and flung the closet doors open like a madman. Then, he rushed to Miranda’s walk–in closet.

All the designer bags, clothes, watches, and jewelry he had gifted her were neatly arranged inside. Not a single item was missing.

Hansel’s gaze landed on a cherry quartz bracelet. His breath quickened, and a dangerous glint appeared in his eyes.

He clearly remembered that it was a birthday gift he;d brought back. from abroad for Miranda during their third year together.

Cherry sounded like the word, “cherish“. This gift was a reminder to Miranda that she was the most cherished person in his life. Back then, she’d loved the bracelet dearly and had worn it all the time.

And yet, she’d even left the bracelet behind, as if she’d abandoned her love for him along with it.

Hansel sank onto the edge of the bed. He suddenly realized that Miranda wasn’t throwing a tantrum. She truly meant every word she’d said. This time, she was really serious about breaking up with him.

Suddenly, Martha heard a loud crash. Startled, she quickly ran upstairs.

As she reached the entrance of the walk–in closet, she ran into Hansel, who stormed past her. His expression was dark and foreboding.

“Mr. Johnson…” Martha called out. She wanted to ask what had happened, but he didn’t even spare her a glance as he walked away. All content is property © NôvelDrama.Org.

Martha turned her head and gasped in shock. The walk–in closet was a complete mess.

The expensive jewelry cabinet had been smashed to smithereens, new clothes with tags still attached to them were strewn everywhere, and

the bohemian rug had been ripped to pieces.

Martha recalled how she’d just cleaned the kitchen and disposed of a

pot of spoiled soup, and now she had to clear away the wreckage in the bedroom.

She could only sigh. The life of a hired help was truly a tough one!

The club was filled with psychedelic lights and scantily clad young people dancing to tacky numbers in the center of the stage. Hansel sat in a corner, drinking alone.

He ordered a bottle of whiskey and downed large gulps one after another. He didn’t seem to be enjoying the drink but more like venting his frustrations.

The dim lights lit up his face from time to time. His well–defined features were shrouded in a cold air, which added an extra layer of allure and intrigue to him.

Women passing by were drawn to his mysterious vibe inexplicably. Some of them couldn’t help but approach him, ignoring the standoffish

air he exuded.

“Hey, handsome. Drinking alone is quite boring. How about I join you?” A woman in an off–shoulder top leaned into him slightly, revealing her well–endowed figure. Any normal man would’ve taken a second look at her sexy cleavage.

However, Hansel just shot a cold glance at her. “Get lost!”

His dark, intimidating gaze was enough to scare her away at first glance. The woman left immediately, fearing to stay for even a second longer.

After driving the bothersome fly away, Hansel continued drowning

himself in alcohol.

He quickly emptied the bottle of whiskey, and he raised his hand to call for a waiter. In a daze, he suddenly spotted a familiar figure.

He rushed toward the figure frantically and grabbed the woman’s arm from behind. “Mi….”

The woman turned around angrily. However, her initial anger

transformed into a sweet smile when she saw how handsome Hansel

was.

She pressed herself against him and said, “Hey, handsome. Are you looking for me?”

Hansel realized he’d mistaken her for someone else. Frowning, he withdrew his hand. Miranda would never be so forward. “I’m sorry, I mistook you for someone else.”

The woman pouted in disappointment and muttered under her breath. as she watched him walk away. “Is he even a man? Why would he refuse a woman throwing herself at him?”

Hansel couldn’t stay a minute longer in this smoky and suffocating place. He finished the last bit of his drink in the glass. Grabbing his coat, he headed for the exit.

When he was near the exit, someone called out to him, “Hans!”
