Chapter 2
Chapter 002 Molly's Return
Four years later, in the intensive care unit of a hospital.
"Sorry, we did our best.Old Mr.Hill is dying. You should prepare for the funeral."
Tyler Hill, Molly's father, frowned and looked worried.
"Doctor, can you think of something to keep him alive? If my father dies now, all the family inheritance will be donated to the country..."
"What should we do? Damn it, it's been years.Where the hell has Molly gone? That wrench! What is Father thinking anyway?! Why does he dote on that damned Molly instead of his two grandsons?!"
Everyone in the Hills had been worried sick these days.Old Mr.Hill made a bizarre will on his deathbed.
He left 51% of Hatchworks Group's shares to Molly, his eldest granddaughter, and the other descendants inherited another 10% of the shares.
In other words, Molly effectively became the largest shareholder of Hatchworks Group.
There was an additional condition in the will.
If Molly did not show up before Old Mr.Hill died, all the family's property would be donated to the country.
This was the reason why the Hills were really anxious and searched everywhere for Molly.
However, Molly seemed to have disappeared from the world because she had lost contact with everyone ever since she divorced Ivan four years ago.
"Damon girl, she's such a troublemaker! Where the hell has she been all these years?!"
Lena Brown, Tyler's second wife, cursed as she spoke. She was so exasperated that her face twisted in great dismay.
Back then, she kicked Molly and her mother out of the family when she was pregnant with the twins.
Then, she was pregnant with a third child. She had thought that this would stabilize her position in the Hill family.
However, she did not expect such an outcome.
To Old Mr.Hill, her three children were nothing compared to Molly, that wretched girl.
"Dad, Mom, Grandpa is awake!"
"Molly...Molly..."
Old Mr.Hill had been in a coma for more than ten days, and he was already on the verge of death.
The only one he was worried about on his deathbed was Molly.
Molly had been missing for four years.
He had always suspected that Lena was behind her disappearance, thinking that she had harmed her.
This was the only thing that had been bothering him for years.
"Father, you're so unfair! Ryan, Noah, and Eileen are your grandchildren too! You have to give them something! If you donate all the inheritance, what are they going to do? Do you want them to be beggars?!"
"Molly...Don't even think about getting a penny before I see Molly..."
"It's been four years.Who knows where she went? If she had loved you, she would have come to see you before you died!"
"Ivan, do you know where Molly is?"
Eileen lowered her eyes and finally couldn't help but ask.Ivan was subconsciously dumbfounded.
Four years ago, he assumed that Molly would pester him and make a big fuss when he asked for a divorce.
Unexpectedly, on the second day after the divorce, Molly moved out of his house. She did not take anything from the house, not even the five hundred million alimony that he gave her.She only took her personal identification documents and her personal belongings.
In the next four years, he hadn't heard any news about her at all.
Of course, for someone as arrogant as him, he would never take the initiative to contact her.
Four years! Ivan did not believe that she would let go of their marriage so casually.
In the past, he had thought of many ways to completely get rid of her, but he didn't have the chance to use it even once.
Just like that, she completely disappeared from his world.
"Molly!"
Old Mr.Hill coughed violently after shouting Molly's name.
"Oh no, Grandpa! Hurry and call the doctor..."
The line on the ECG monitor gradually became flat, and everyone cried in great despair as they surrounded the hospital bed.
However, they were not crying because of the dying man, but they were crying for the inheritance that was about to be confiscated! Tap! Tap! Tap! There was the sound of high heels tapping in the corridor of the hospital.
Thump! The door of the ward was pushed open.
The person was wearing a white bespoke suit with a limited edition Hermés Birkin bag and large sunglasses that covered most of her face.
Under the contrast of the high heels, her slender and long legs were especially charming.
The cold and threatening aura seemed to add more pressure to the already heavy atmosphere of the entire ward.
"Who the hell is she? Did she get into the wrong room? Who let her in?!"
"It's me.I came to see Grandpa."
Molly slowly took off her sunglasses and walked towards the bed step by step.
"Molly!"
Everyone was completely shocked.
Molly had changed too much! Her signature long black hair had become shoulder-length brown-colored hair.
She always wore casual clothes and flip-flops, yet now, she had transformed into a professional businesswoman with a suit and high heels.
Moreover, she looked much thinner now.She was five feet four tall, yet she looked like she weighed less than 80 pounds. Her eyes, which were bright as the sparkling stars in the sky, became void and cold.
In fact, there was a bit of fatigue and listlessness in her eyes.
"Molly, Molly! You're finally here! If you don't show up, we will be doomed!"
It was the first time that everyone in the Hills looked forward to her appearance so much! "Grandpa, I'm sorry, I'm late!"
"...Molly..."
Old Mr.Hill forced himself to open his eyes with great difficulty.
"Oh, you're finally here.I can finally be at ease..."
With that, Old Mr.Hill tilted his head and closed his eyes. His outstretched hand softly fell on the bed.
Beep! The line on the ECG monitor became a straight line, followed by the ear-piercing beep.
"Grandpa! Grandpa!" Belongs to (N)ôvel/Drama.Org.
Molly shouted twice, tears rolling down her face. Her grandfather was probably the only one in the entire Hill family who genuinely cared about her.
"Alright, you can drop your act now! If you really had loved Grandpa so much, you should have come to visit him at least once in the last four years! Hah, you're finally back because Grandpa is dead, and it's time to divide the inheritance!"
Ryan Hill, Tyler's eldest son, sneered in disdain. He had never regarded Molly as his sister.
Now that Molly had become the greatest beneficiary of the inheritance, he wished she could die with Grandpa right there and then!
"Alright, that's enough.Hurry up and arrange the funeral!"
Tyler patted Molly on the shoulder with a pained expression.
"Molly, now that you're back, move back and stay with us."
"That's right, move back home!" Lena pouted.
"Also, your grandfather made a will before his death to let you inherit 51% shares of Hatchworks Group. He must be confused. How can an ignorant girl manage such a big company? Molly, you're still too young to understand anything.Let your father continue to be in charge of the company!"
Lena grunted impolitely like an elder reprimanding a child. She felt extremely contemptuous too.
Molly was as stupid as her damn mother! Lena swore that she would boss Molly around when she moved back to the house.
"I don't want to say anything right now.I just want to take care of Grandpa's funeral first."
Molly was expressionless.
"Yes, you're right.Father's funeral is the most important right now.We can put everything else aside for the time being!"
