The Millionaire And His Billionaire Ex-Wife

Chapter 256

Chapter 256

At the top floor of the Angle Building, the atmosphere was tense.

Grace coldly looked at the young girl in front of her, who was only nineteen years old.

She seemed to know about her past with Eder. But how could a young star from the entertainment industry possibly know about their previous affairs in Frant City?

Grace was contemplating this when Ava pouted her rosy lips and smiled innocently. “Miss Grace, why are you nervous? I just casually mentioned it. It seems like you have a secret, huh?”

Could it be that she was overthinking?

Grace’s expression became serious, but she remained silent.

Ava continued to smile and said. “There’s a charity party tonight, and I will be attending as Mr. Storm’s partner. It seems like Miss Grace, as his fiancee, doesn’t have a place. Oh dear, he surely must have not told you about this, right? It seems that you are not that important to him.”

She chuckled provocatively, turned around, and left in the elevator.

Grace stared at her receding figure until it completely disappeared from the top floor. Her face turned unusually solemn.

Beth was frightened by her expression and hurriedly tried to console her. “Miss Grace, don’t overthink it. That woman clearly came here to provoke and create conflict. You and Mr. Storm have always had a good relationship, and he must have brought her along because of work.”

“Alright.” Grace didn’t say much. “You can go about your business.”

She turned and entered her office, immediately making a call to one of Dark Bell’s subordinates. “Ava is up to something. Investigate her as soon as possible. I want to know everything about her!”

“No problem, boss.”

After hanging up the phone, she sat at her desk for a while, lost in thought.

Ava’s words kept echoing in her ears, making it hard for her to calm down. She didn’t know why, but this woman gave her a strange feeling.

Yet, she couldn’t quite put her finger on what exactly was strange about her. Lost in her thoughts, her phone rang.

Checking the caller ID, she answered with a less–than–friendly tone, “What’s the matter?”

On the other end of the line, Eder was initially taken aback.

Just yesterday evening and this morning, the woman on the other end of the line was sweet and adorable. How did she become so cold and indifferent within a few hours?

“Grace, are you feeling unwell? Are you sick?”

“No.” She tried to maintain a calm tone and, thinking of Ava’s words earlier, tentatively asked, “I’ve been at the Angle office all afternoon. Were you plGalen to come pick me up after work as usual?”

“I called to tell you about that. I can’t come to pick you up tonight. There’s a charity party I have to attend.”

After saying this, Grace remained silent for a long time.

Eder keenly sensed that she was not very happy, and he softly added, “Is your waist still sore? When we get back tonight, I’ll personally give you a massage to promote blood circulation and relieve stasis.

I’ll be your exclusive masseur, okay?”

Grace ignored his insinuations and asked in a sour tone, “If you’re attending the party, you need to bring a partner, right? Who are you taking with you?”

“She is the spokesperson for the new collaboration with the Grant family, a female celebrity. But don’t worry, I will definitely keep my distance from her and come back with a clear conscience!” “What a load of nonsense!” Grace muttered to herself, then changed her tone to a sweet and gentle voice, smiling softly as she said, “Why are you so nervous, Eder? Of course, I believe in you.”

When Eder heard her speaking normally, he finally felt relieved.

The moment they hung up the phone, Grace’s face immediately turned cold.

“Trust him, my foot!” She believed in Eder, but she didn’t believe in Ava!

The fact that this woman came to her door to show off indicated that she wasn’t a pleasant person to be around. She probably had some ulterior motives regarding Eder for the charity dinner tonight. Who knows how good Eder is at judging people?

She felt angry, and suddenly caught a glimpse of a black and gold invitation on the stack of files on her desk.

It was an invitation to the charity dinner. “So, they invited her to the event too?”

They probably sent it in the morning, but she didn’t know because she was at the hospital.

Perfect, she thought. She decided to go and see what’s happening!

She called Tom Walker. Although the Walker family was considered prestigious in Frant City, they weren’t well–known in 5 City.

But Tom was a popular celebrity in the entertainment industry and had many fans.

She had invited Tom to 5 City before, and now she could bring him along as her ready–made male partner!

In the evening, at the top floor of the King’s Landing Hotel, a grand charity event was about to take place.

Ava wore a beautiful white evening gown, looking elegant and luxurious.

At that moment, she sat in Eder’s fancy Bentley, heading to the King’s Landing Hotel together.

There was a small coffee table between them in the car, and Eder’s handsome face under that mysterious mask was cold, lacking any warmth, giving off a strong sense of discontent.

him.

Resting her chin on her hand, she playfully looked at him and said, “I envy the news about you and Miss Grace the other day. But you seem so indifferent to me, Mr. Storm. Did you give all your love to Miss Grace?”

Eder kept his gaze straight ahead, ignoring her.

She didn’t feel embarrassed and smiled innocently with her youthful face, “I never had any siblings when I was young. I grew up alone, and for some reason, I always feel a connection with you, Mr. Storm. My life has been tough, and I envy Miss Grace for being born into a wealthy family.”

Eder frowned slightly, almost unnoticeably.

Initially, he didn’t think there was anything wrong with what she said until she compared herself to Grace. “Intentionally seeking sympathy from him and belittling Grace in front of him?TM

Eder’s expression grew colder, his thin lips tightly pressed together, remaining silent.

Ava was undeterred, trying to sound strong as she continued, “Please don’t mind me, Mr. Storm. I was only joking with you. However, it seems like you really favor Miss Grace. She’s so lucky, and it’s truly admirable.”

Eder didn’t look at her and ignored her.

The car fell into silence for two minutes.

A slight awkwardness hung in the air.

Ava felt a little frustrated, but a strong desire to conquer ignited her fighting spirit.

She decided to bring up another topic, attempting to regain his attention. “Why did you choose to take a business car to the event today, Mr. Storm? I heard that you own the only black Sylve Limited Edition supercar in the whole country. Unfortunately, I haven’t had the chance to see its stunning beauty.”

Eder continued to remain silent. That car only had two seats, and the passenger seat was reserved exclusively for Grace. No other woman could even think of getting close to it.

Since he didn’t respond, the person sitting in the front passenger seat, who seemed to be in his forties, spoke on his behalf. “Since Miss Ava is the spokesperson for the Rossi Project and a guest of the Grant family, it’s only appropriate to use a business car to show our respect to you.”

Ava felt a bit annoyed by his words.

To her, it sounded like they were indirectly implying that she wasn’t worthy of the Sylve supercar. She put on a slightly aggrieved expression and was about to say something when they arrived at the hotel entrance.

Before getting out of the car, Eder warned her, “I’m taking you to this event for publicity purposes only. My fiancee is very strict, and she doesn’t allow other women to get close to me. So, let’s not hold hands when we enter. Do you understand, Miss Ava?”

Ava’s face stiffened.
