Chapter 87 - The New Elite
Chapter 87 - The New Elite
“Business Takeover!”
The event was highly prestigious among young entrepreneurs, as its support gave them the opportunity
to turn their ideas and limited resources into reality. It was so popular that it was even broadcast live on
national television.
Potential investors were those with immense wealth or large investing companies, which was why this
event gained traction so quickly.
All of the participants held onto their dreams, hoping the event would change their lives drastically. This Ccontent © exclusive by Nô/vel(D)ra/ma.Org.
was the reason why most of them were determined to make the best impression of their idea, in the
hope that it would have a great impact in the future.
Two people were seated in prime positions in the luxurious studio that evening, where the Business
Takeover event was about to commence.
“Business Takeover!”
Patrick Winter and Cash Todd were the duos that occupied the exclusive space; Winter was one of the
notorious Underworld Leaders, often referred to as "The Demon," while Todd was the representative of
a prestigious venture capital firm.
The Underworld leaders were certainly no ordinary people, having a shadowy presence in the dark
world, yet some had high reputations in the public eye.
Likewise, Patrick Winter was the mastermind behind the many actions of assassins who carry out cold-
blooded murders on behalf of their clients. That’s why he got the title of The Demon.
If Estella Strong, The Kraken, was renowned for her vast influence in the government, Patrick Winter,
The Demon, was equally renowned for his vast army that could eliminate anyone without leaving a
trace.
Cash Todd, who was sitting with his legs crossed, smiled kindly at Patrick and asked, "Who will be the
third person joining us tonight, Mr. Winter?"
With only a few minutes left until the event began, Patrick and Cash were still uncertain as to who
would be taking the third seat at their table and potentially becoming an investor.
"That is also my question," Patrick answered, "it's not usual for a third person to join us from outside
our own group, Mr. Todd."
For the past two years, Business Takeover has been a breeding ground for The Underworld to build its
network; the more people they bring under its sway, the more powerful its sway will be.
At this point, The Underworld has become an integral part of many people's lives. They wield too much
clout to be able to manipulate any situation to their own ends. They were like a shadow government,
quietly pulling the strings from behind the scenes.
"You look great, Mr. Todd," said Patrick with a chuckle. "I'm sure the women I sent you are more than
enough to satisfy you. Ha ha ha!"
"Ha ha ha," replied Cash. "You really are the best when it comes to providing women. I feel like I'm in
paradise with thirty gorgeous ladies living in my mansion!"
The two of them were engaging in lighthearted conversation and laughter. Cash Todd and Patrick
Winter had a mutually beneficial relationship, so Todd had an in-depth understanding of Winter's
background, given their frequent business dealings.
To maintain the success of his business, Todd sometimes had to take drastic measures to eliminate his
competition. It was during these times that he sought out Winter's assistance. On the other hand,
Winter found great monetary gain through his illicit collaborations with Todd, and thus, he needed him
as well.
"I heard recently, there's been quite a stir in this beloved town of Southlake?"
Cash Todd inquired, his curiosity piqued as he was not originally from the town and had only heard
about the news through the media.
Patrick clicked his tongue in annoyance and shook his head. "It's all due to Aston and Estella's
incompetence, allowing someone who doesn't even know what they're doing to cause such an
insignificant event."
Up to this point, Patrick had not taken any direct action regarding the Mr. Glitzy phenomenon, as he
had not yet experienced the loss of what Mr. Glitzy had to offer himself.
"If I were to intervene," Patrick continued, his voice tinged with anger, "That would really be the end of
the man. Mr. Glitzy, or whoever this is, no one is allowed to have anything to do with me, let alone
make a scene in my presence."
Confident in his power and the size of his army, Patrick was certain that facing a man like Mr. Glitzy
would not be difficult.
Knowing that Aston, Estella, and Eliza would likely fail at taking care of Mr. Glitzy, Patrick was content
to wait and let them try before he stepped in to complete the mission. Thus embarrassing them and
positioning himself for a higher place in The Underworld Leader's hierarchy.
"Mr. Winter, this is the first time I've seen you not take immediate action when something like this
happens. You truly are a person of high reputation." Cash chuckled and remarked.
Patrick replied with a dismissive tone, "Mr. Glitzy, I don't know who's behind the identity of that person.
Nevertheless, I'm still being patient, as I don't think he poses any threat to me. If he dared to stand in
my way, I would take care of him immediately. He is just one person, he wouldn't be able to stand a
chance against me, the Demon. Therefore, I have no desire to think about this, as I consider him to be
just a tiny insect, unworthy of my attention."
Cash Todd applauded Patrick The Demon's answer, smiling kindly and laughing lightly. "I fully
acknowledge your credibility, Mr. Winter," he said, his eyes twinkling with amusement.
"I can't wait to see your performance. It's been a while since I've had such entertainment. Ha ha ha!" he
added.
The cameras were ready from various angles, and the audience had started arriving at the studio. As
the live event would start in a few minutes.
At that moment, a man walked up to Patrick and Cash. He was the producer of the event and said very
politely, “Mr. Winter, Mr. Todd, the third potential investor has arrived. He will be joining you in a few
minutes.”
"What's that man's name?" Cash asked in an even tone.
The producer replied, “His name is Mr. Arthur Gardner.”
"Arthur Gardner? Who the fuck is Arthur Gardner.” Cash Todd exclaimed in a shrill voice.
His vast connections in the business world left him certain that he had never heard of the man before,
nor did he recall that Gardner had any wealth to his name.
Patrick Winter then added, "Who is this person? Have him come in right away, so he can formally
introduce himself to his superiors."
Cash Todd sighed. "You guys have really taken a big hit here. Why would you bring someone who isn't
well-known to an event like this? Do you want to tarnish both of our reputations by comparing us to a
novice?"
The producer nodded slowly. "I apologize, Mr. Todd. I'm sure Mr. Gardner will be able to clarify his
stance. I hope this doesn't disappoint you two."
He stepped away feeling tense and anxious, thinking to himself, "This might be my last night in this
industry. I don't want to have anything to do with either of them. I'm afraid my life could be in danger if I
accidentally angered them."
At that moment, someone stepped into the studio, his straight posture and charismatic face
immediately catching the attention of everyone. He was dressed in a finely tailored suit, the expensive
clothing displaying his high social status.
Arthur Gardner walked in with a composed air, turning his face towards the crew and giving a light
smile. "Good evening, everyone," he said casually.
