Chapter 77
Chapter 77 The Most Popular Young Lady of Ascalon
Usually, Jason would never dare sit down. However, he could not speak loudly now as there was something important he had to talk about.
Thus, he shifted the other armchair over to Sean so that he would sit down right next to Sean. Then, he leaned over to whisper into Sean’s ear.
“Mr. Sean, we finally have information on Madeline Summers.”
Sean frowned and turned to look at Jason. “Why did it take so long?”
“Heh…”
Jason chuckled in embarrassment. “It’s easy enough to look into her once she’s in Silverton, but her past before coming here is a complete mystery. It’s like she popped out of nowhere. If I had not used every trick in the book, we could never have found anything.”
Still, it seemed like they finally found something on Madeline.
Madeline was certainly impressive enough to force them to use every trick the Vanderbilts had up their sleeves just to investigate her.
Sean thought about how Claire vanished into thin air during the four years she was away from Silverton. She was just as slippery as her mother.
He smirked as he stared at the intricate ashtray on the nearby end table.
Nt had been a very long time since he last smoked.
Jason licked his dry lips and softly said, “Madeline Summers was originally Winona Summers of Ascalon.”
He immediately painted a portrait of her when he arrived home. To this day, it still hung in his room. No one was allowed to touch it.
Master and Madam Vanderbilt noticed Frederick’s infatuation, so they approached the Summers. Everything was going well, and the couple was aboɩ to get married when Winona suddenly vanished.
Thus, the marriage was called off. After that day, Frederick burned every portrait he had ever painted except for the painting of Winona hanging in his room. He never fell in love again. All content is property © NôvelDrama.Org.
Master and Madam Vanderbilt were worried at first. Frederick was an adult now, so he had to start his own family.
No matter what they said or shouted, however, Frederick refused to budge. He nearly declared he would become a priest just to prove to them how much he did not want to get married. Thus, Master and Madam Vanderbilt had no choice but to leave him be.
Jason suddenly gasped as his face turned pale. “It really is her.”
Sean took a deep puff of smoke as he snorted. “Back then, everyone was panicking. We had all thought she died. Who knew she would have come all the way here and even changed her name to Madeline Summers?”
What was even more unbelievable was the fact that Claire was Madeline’s daughter.
What an absolute coincidence!
Jason turned to look at Sean. Due to the smoke in the air, he could not clearly tell what Sean was feeling. Still, the emotions warring within Sean were surely greater than what Jason felt.
A few seconds later, Sean flicked his cigarette and abruptly asked, “Jason, how can a woman that not even Fred could win the heart of possibly marry Robert Donovan?”
Frederick came from an amazing family, and his painting skills granted him a place of eminence in the arts industry.
Unlike most artists, Frederick was an exceptionally handsome man back then. He did not have any vices and had always acted with the grace and wisdom of the great masters.
Back then, Frederick’s intent to marry Winona had shattered the hearts of many young ladies in Ascalon.
How could a foolish and useless man like Robert be compared to him?
Jason smacked himself on the head. “That’s true! Mr. Frederick could not even
win her over, so why would she even like Robert?”
When Sean saw the look of realization on Jason’s face, he knew that Jason had either not looked into it or found any information on it yet.
“When did Madeline marry Robert after arriving in Silverton? When did she give birth to Claire?”
That was something Jason knew.
“A month after Winona disappeared, Madeline established Alpha Ventures and married Robert just a month after that. Miss Donovan was born 6 months after the wedding.”
Jason froze soon after saying that and cautiously said to Sean. “Mr. Sean, do you think… Winona eloped with Robert? Why else would Miss Donovan be born so soon?”
There was only one possibility here Winona was pregnant when she ran away from Ascalon.
That made Sean even more certain that Claire was not Robert’s daughter.
He did not reply to Jason and merely snuffed out his cigarette in the ashtray.
“We’re going back to Ascalon tomorrow!”
“B–Back to Ascalon?”
The decision was so sudden. Sean had not returned to Ascalon once despite how much Madam Vanderbilt had pleaded. Why would they suddenly be heading
Jason nearly choked on air. However, he did not dare ask too many questions “Will we be leaving first thing in the morning?”
Sean’s lips curled up in a gentle smile. “We’ll leave after I have breakfast with Claire and the kids.”
It had become a habit to have breakfast at Sean’s place while they had dinne at Claire’s place.
Julia had repeatedly suggested Claire move in with Sean. Just watching them move back and forth between the two units felt exhausting.
Claire thought it was an interesting part of life. While she was a mother of two, she had never dated anyone before.

She wanted to properly experience love.
Claire served herself some oatmeal. The oatmeal Sean’s chef made was quite good. It was seasoned just the way she liked it.
Sean was slowly sipping away at a glass of milk as he watched Claire eat.
While she did not look all that elegant, the way she ate made him want to eat too. Sean thought that even if she were not a writer, she could be a food influencer.
Just as Claire was about to eat a spoonful of her oatmeal, he calmly stated, “I’ll be heading back to Ascalon after breakfast.”
