MISTAKE 176
hapter 176: Waking up after a decade.
Stella took some time to calm down. She walked around outside without care, bathing in the moonlight, enjoying the wind, while trying to get James out of her mind. She had to admit he was still quite handsome. She remembered meeting him for the first time. She had never seen anyone as beautiful as him before. She had noticed the way he looked at her and wondered if what happened tonight was because of this feeling between them. Did he in some way remember her?
She stayed outside longer to clear her head before she returned to the cave, hoping he would have long composed himself. But when she walked into the cave, she suddenly felt dizzy, and her body weakened. Before she could react, a group of humans jumped out and
tied her up. By the time Stella woke up, she had been tied to a pyre waiting to be burned. The villagers kept chanting to burn someone. Stella was confused. Burn who?
“Witch! Burn her!” they chanted as they threw things at her. Stella still felt weak and could barely move her body. She looked around her feet to find that she was surrounded by villagers. They anted to burn her.
Stella looked left and right for a bit, wondering where James was. Maybe she had lived with him long enough because she found him in the crowd easily. She opened her mouth to call to him, but chocked as no words came out. Her eyes pleaded, but he did not move. He stood amongst the crowd, watching as the fire was lit and she went up in flames.
The fire hurt as she thought a fire would. What kind of dream was this? The pain tore through her head, causing her to scream out, till her vision went dark.
James woke up suddenly and found himself in his room.
“Stella? Stella!” he called out, but found that he was not in the cave. He had a weird dream of him being a werewolf and getting Stella killed.
Looking around, he found himself strapped to a machine. He slowly removed all the pins and
parts.
He got up and looked around. It was nighttime now.
Remembering his dream, he had recognized her even though she had aged. He knew that face. The woman he had spent time with in that cave was his wife, Stella. He recalled their experience. From what he saw, she hated him. She did not want to admit she knew him. She hated him and avoided him. Why?
He got up
from the bed and walked out of his room into the moonlight. He was not sure how he returned home or if what he had gone through was real or not, but right now, he needed to meet his mother.
He walked out of his cottage and matched towards the main house. He was fuming when he recalled the stun his mother pulled that got him unconscious.
The moment he burst through, he found that a full moon meeting was going on. It seemed he had forgotten. It was at that moment that he realized that he was standing there, clear–headed under a moonlight.
He was not the only one who realized this; it was also everyone there. They looked at him in
awe.
you are awake?” Liam said, stepping forward. He looked shaken, like he had seen at
“You… you
ghost.
“Where is mother?” James asked, refusing to let go of why he came.
“James, calm down.” Gregor stepped forward, “You have been sleeping for over a decade.” Gregor tried to calm him down, but James caught a bit of his words and paused.
“Over a decade?” he asked, then his mind flashed to Stella.

“Where is my wife? Where is Stella?” He asked, and the room stilled.
Liam walked closer.
“When you went into a coma, we were looking for a way to wake you. Mother had gone crazy after a while. If she returned…” Liam said.
“Mother blamed herself for you going unconscious. The family decided to…” Gregor was not sure what to say.
“Decided to what?” James insisted that he continue.
“Your mother and your wife cannot stay in the same family. Your wife was not allowed back. 1 decided on this.” James heard a voice say and looked to see his father. He had aged, and from what he could tell, he was no longer the family head.
“So, I go in, and you leave my wife and…” He suddenly recalled that he and Stella had two daughters, Anya and Emma
Yes, his daughters. He had two daughters, and they left his wife and children outside to fend. for themselves.
“You two agreed to this?” James looked to his brothers.
“Brother…” Gregor started to say.
“Uncle, they had no choice. During that time…” a young girl started to speak.
“Lana, shut up! It is not your turn to speak!” Gregor’s wife, Heather scolded the girl. Uncle?

She looked like she could be the same age as his daughters. But while they protected her, they left his daughters outside.
He was so angry that his had become severely calm. His face had turned cold as he looked at
them.
Just that moment, Janet hurried in, followed by a woman.
“James! James! You are awake!” Janet hurried over to him. But before she could reach him, James slapped her across the room.
“Janet!” His father, Samuel, shouted. He was shocked to see his aged wife thrown like a rag
doll.
“Insolence! Hold him down!” Samuel ordered his guards. Two guards appeared by James‘ side” quickly but were not his match. Despite just waking up, his blows were strong.
He only used a little effort, and he had broken a few bones.
“It seems in just a few years, you have forgotten who I am,” James said, and the room froze.
True. How could they forget? This was James Grey. He was older now, but he was still young. Even though he had not been seen outside for a few years, their family detained their position amongst the great families with just his name alone. A man so feared by the government and the Mafia combined.

“It’s fine. He is angry. After all, it is my fault he was in a coma this long,” Janet said as the woman beside her helped her up.
She had lost her relationship with all her children that day. Her sons did not trust her near their wives and warned their children to stay away from her. They even moved to other cities and only came around for family meetings.

Because of this, she lost her standing in the family. She looked at the woman beside her, and her eyes lit up.
“James, this is Hannah. She has taken care of you since that day,” Janet hurriedly introduced Hannah. She was told if they put him inside the machine, he would forget his wife. She thought it had worked.
The reason she had pushed to have Stella never return was to make sure they did not form a new bond when he woke up. This girl was the only daughter of the Kent family, one of the great families.
James looked at his mother and could guess what she was thinking. That night, his mother had attempted to harm Stella. When he confronted her, she tricked him into meeting a girl and her family. Was this the girl?
There were rumors that their family had a hand in attacking Stella all those years ago.
“Hello, James,” Hannah said tensely.
She was scared. She had stayed in this family as his fiancé for years, and because he was unconscious, she could not claim this outside. The world already knew Stella was his wife, and unless James said it with his own lips, no one would believe her.
But since he was unconscious, no one could also know that the machine did not work. In fact,
she had not been able to come anywhere near James for years. He needed all–round care inside that machine. Nurses had to be brought in to take care of him.
Now he was awake; she was afraid of what he would say. Exclusive content © by Nô(v)el/Dr/ama.Org.
“Oh? The girl did not tell you that your nonsense did not work.” James asked Janet. Looking at the worried woman, he could guess she had tried this over and over again while he was asleep.
