Chapter 65 FRIEDA WHITLOCK The next day, I drove Francisco to school since he insisted to go see Harper. I also had intentions of going to check on the girl. She was still not awake and it worried me. I felt restless knowing she was in that condition and somehow, Cisco was tangled in all of it. Of course, I was sure my son didn’t push her down. There was no guilt fueling my actions. I truly cared for her. I was her aunt after all. Even though Safiya and were not on good terms, I didn’t harbor any sour feelings toward her. She was a sweet child and Cisco’s best friend – Stepsister. On our way, I bought chocolates at Cisco’s behest. He wanted to give them to her once we got here. He was so sure she’d be awake but his hopes shattered when we got here. She was still unconscious and my poor boy was confused “Mom, why isn’t she getting up?” He asked, peering deeply into her face. I sighed taking hold of his shoulders and guided him away from her bed to the bed across the room. “She will soon” I repeated for the umpteenth time in response to his question. The same question he had been asking since we got here. Cisco wasn’t content with my response, his face scrunched and he heaved, dropping the chocolate bars, dejectedly. His reactions made me wonder how deep their friendship was Or Chapter 65 1 was it the bond of being family? “Cisco dear, don’t be sad, okay, I promise you she’ll be fine” I rubbed his back to calm him down. His eyes had become misty and he was on the verge of tears. He had been crying a lot lately because of this situation but now, he was crying for his best friend. It warmed my heart. I craned my neck to stare at Harper’s frail body on the bed and sighed. The bandage around her head had been taken off but there were a few plasters on the bruises on her face. Her body had lots of cuts also.

Her condition didn’t look good. It made my stomach churn, Safiya might have a mouth that never ceased to throw words at me but I knew from her state days ago that she didn’t like the state Harper was in. She looked drained and miserable. The way she watched over Harper was commendable. Sighing, I picked up one of the chocolate bars and handed it to Cisco. He would need it because, aside from paying Harper a visit, he had an appointment with the doctor. When we got here, I had spoken with a doctor to check up on his wounds. As we waited, my eyes were on Harper watching her chest as it rose and fell rhythmically. It was great to know that she was still alive at least. The door opened and I stood to my feet expecting to see the doctor but my expectations were at bay because instead of a doctor, there were two burly-looking men. I tried to think that they were doctors but they weren’t dressed for the profession. They had eyes on me. Chapter 65 Who are they?” My eyes furrowed, “You missed the way, misters” I said, thinking that was the problem but the grim look on their faces didn’t fade off. If they hadn’t just barged in here, I would’ve said that they were statues. One of them stepped forward and I wrapped my arms around Cisco protectively. He stopped midway, “Ma’am, we mean no harm. We were sent here by the Alpha to bring you along to the pack house” I blinked, Kaiden sent them? Giving them a once over, I made out the fact that they might be guards. But why would he want me in the pack house? This didn’t seem good. “Why?” I asked, staring at them. “We don’t know about that ma’am, but we are here on the Alpha’s orders to bring you to him” The other one who remained by the door spoke and I tilted my head wondering what on earth Kaiden

was playing at this time. Why would he send guards to come and fetch me to the pack house of all places? “Ma’am we have to go now” The man before me reminded, snapping me out of my thoughts and I frowned when I felt Cisco’s hold on my arms tighten. Chapter 65 1 “I can’t leave my son here,” I told them through gritted teeth. I had no option but to follow Kaiden’s orders at this point. Sending guards to find me was to show his Alpha status and I dare not disobey. F**k. Him. “We are not here for the child but you, we don’t care about what happens to him so you better find a solution-” “Shut up!” The man by the door snapped at the man before me who had been speaking and getting on my nerves. “You can bring him along. Let’s go” I glared at the man before me and picked Cisco up before walking out. He followed behind, huffing. Why was he a guard in the first place with such an attitude? That was no way to speak to a woman with a child. ac What did expect from a blockhead like Kaiden anyway? They insisted I followed them in the vehicle they brought and I was left without an option but to do as told since arguing with them was causing a scene and drawing attention to us. In the car, I held Cisco close to myself like he would be s**d from me if I didn’t hold onto him tight. Maybe that was Kaiden’s plan? To s**h my son away with absurd demands. He could but for some reason I couldn’t decipher, I doubted it. Then what was his motive? My heart thumped in my chest as I thought of numerous reasons he would want me in the pack house. My mind wandered to Safiya. What if this was her plan, to get me to the pack house so she could trap me?

Goddess, please help me out here. I shut my eyes resting my head on Cisco’s shoulder in search of comfort and I got it.Content from NôvelDr(a)ma.Org.
