Chapter 148
Elise had left Rygan with her beta, Jax, while she and Michale went ahead. There was clear tension in the air between the two males, but this was a mission; they were supposed to set all their differences apart, right?
They infiltrated the main palace of Kyren’s home, the hallways bringing back horrific memories that Rygan hated to recall- the days when he was chained up like an animal, flogged, or forced to service those females. He knew he had to focus, and first of all, was to blend into the shadows.
Then they struck, laying waste to Kyren’s guards during the secret siege. They made sure not to be caught, and with Rygan leading them both, he made sure not to get caught, not until they reached Kyren’s chambers and killed the b**d.

“I had that; I could have killed him off,” Jax muttered the moment after Rygan had spotted a guard with a silver spear killed him before he had the chance to attack Jax. He snarled at the alpha, whose eyebrows raised in irritation, questioning if the beta wanted a challenge.
“Yet I just saved your life; at least act like it,” he retorted.
“I didn’t ask you to.”
“You think haven’t noticed the way you’ve been acting? Spill, why the hell you’ve been hostile to me, Jax, what is your problem?” Rygan muttered with a snarl to the beta, but as quiet as Jax was, he was the most stubborn in his group.
“I only answer to my Luna and no one else,” he argued, but now they were alone, and Rygan was tired of his **it. He had been trying to keep a distance from the male that Elise respected, but it was getting ridiculous because of his behavior.
From the dark stares filled with unreadable questions to how Jax acted hostile when Elise wasn’t around, he wanted Jax to finally say the reason why he was acting so indifferent towards him. He knew his mate cared about the beta, so beating the answer out of him was out of the question for now.
“Oh, I certainly do need an answer; we are working together right now, and I need you to act as if you care about this mission, so tell me what your problem is with me this instant,” he drawled.
“Because you are happy!” He hissed out, “Because you are happy with Luna Elise, while my best friend is gone, he loved her, he risked his life for her, and I cannot blame her for his death because I know my friend well enough to know that he would shield Elise with his body and life over and over again.”he continues.
“So forgive me for not giving you the good ol’ Calhan welcome, because even though Brady and Michael might have accepted this, I still haven’t,” he drawled out with a huff.
Rygan’s hands lunged at Jax’s collar, holding the male and slamming him to the wall, his eyes grim with a silent yet deadly stare at Jax.
“I do not care what you think of me; I do not have to prove myself to you, and without a doubt, I will be forever thankful for Hayden’s sacrifice and will be forever sorry to El, and for our whole lives together, I’ll make sure she is worshipped like the queen she is, so hate me for it; I don’t care,” he snarled, loosening his hands from Jax’s collar.
Their breaths were harsh and grim from the tension as Jax pulled away; he wanted to be angry, wanted to rage and blame them, but how could he? There was no way fated mates could be separated, and Rygan genuinely loved his Luna.

Yet he couldn’t help recall how Elise looked the first time they met her, how reluctant she was to even talk or trust them; it took months for them to gain her trust; they had wondered what she had been through to be so closed off.
But now it just seemed so easy with Rygan. Looking at Rygan, he knew the alpha was more than serious about her; maybe their bond was something that he could never understand because he hadn’t felt that with anyone else yet.
“I’m sorry, I know I’ve been hard to get along with, and I know this isn’t the Tim ego acting like this, so let’s work together, Ryan,” he called with his arms raised for a handshake and a truce.
Just as Rygan stood his hands, they nodded their heads in agreement to their truce, and just then, they heard the sound of two guards approaching, immediately concealing their scents as they blended into the dark path of the palace pillar.
“Did you hear?” One of the guards muttered as they stood next to the steps, “About Alpha Kyren’s plan? That man is a mad geniús, I tell you.”
“More like a madman,” the other delta chuckled. “All this to prove a point to his jilted bride; I thought he abandoned her in the first place. Why does he want her back so badly now?”
“Who cares? We get the glory of defeating the Silver Night Pack, and soon enough we will infiltrate that Black Moon Pack and kill those b**ds. I’m pretty sure I can take their alpha inyself; I’d like to meet the b**d myself and show him what I’m made of,” he bragged.
The other male snickered; both Rygan and Jax had heard enough as they rose out of their hidden spot. “Why don’t you turn around and tell him yourself?” Jax muttered to both guards as they both whirled around.
Their eyes blew wide from confusion to horror as Rygan speared out his claws and went right for the male’s jugular, killing him instantly with Jax striking the other guard, slamming him to the wall, and grappling his neck.
“Tell us where Kyren is,” he muttered with a deadly growl. The guard was far too cowardly and filled with horror as he pointed to the stairs.
“He is in his chambers on the first floor; please don’t kill me, please.”
C**k!
Jax then snapped his neck as he turned back to Rygan, his eyes glazed with adrenaline and bloodlust. They knew they needed to move fast and get Kyren and save the other s**es from him.NôvelDrama.Org: text © owner.
“Let’s go get that b**d,” Rygan muttered with Jax right behind him, their eyes blazing and ready for a battle with that monster, Kyren.
But what they didn’t know was that Elise was among the s**s they were about to save, and they were soon about to get the shock of their lives as they raced to his chambers.
