PREGNANT BUT REJECTED AS A BILLIONAIRE WIFE

PHB 87

After getting officially married, Lucas finally brought Deasy to live in his house. Before heading home, the man first took Deasy somewhere.

“Actually, where are we going?” Deasy, who was initially calm and relaxed, finally started chattering. She was curious about where Lucas was taking her early in the morning.

As far as Deasy knew, hotel check-out time was either at 12 PM or 1 PM. However, Lucas, after having breakfast together, seemed to be in a hurry to take her somewhere.

Deasy thought that Lucas wanted to bring her to his house as soon as possible and show it to her. During their relationship, Deasy had never known where Lucas lived all this time.

But looking at the road they were traveling on, Deasy seemed familiar with it. That’s why she was curious and wondered where she was being taken so early in the morning.

“When we get there, you’ll know,” Lucas replied casually, smiling.

Deasy sighed and tried to be patient. Until finally, the Alphard car they were in stopped and began to enter a cemetery area that she knew very well.

“You… are taking me to-”

“Yes,” Lucas interrupted, nodding. “I want to visit your late father’s grave. Since I didn’t get a chance to ask for permission and blessings yesterday, I decided to stop by now before we both really go home.”

Deasy stared for a few seconds and then nodded. She still wondered how Lucas knew the location of her father’s grave all this time.

“So, who told you that my dad was buried here?”

“Your mom did, of course. Who else? I intentionally asked her the other day so that I wouldn’t have to ask again next time when I bring you.”

Deasy nodded again. Once the car they were riding in stopped, Lucas immediately led his wife to get out of the car. Together, they walked for a while until they finally reached one of the graves, the resting place of Deasy’s father.

“Pa, Deasy’s here again. This time with my husband.”

Deasy, who was already sitting comfortably next to her father’s gravestone, spoke. She brought her hand and gently touched the gravestone with the name Anton Winterborne written on it.

“This is Lucas, Pa,” Deasy continued. “The man I told you about the other day.”

Lucas immediately turned his head, furrowing his brow, curious about what Deasy had told her father about him.

“You talked about me to your dad? You must have said all sorts of things about me leaving you, right?” Lucas guessed accurately. In reality, the other day, Deasy had poured her heart out about how she had just met her prospective husband but ended up being abandoned due to a mistake she had made.

“I didn’t gossip. I just reviewed your behavior,” Deasy replied innocently. “Besides, even if I spoke ill of you to Dad, it wouldn’t make any difference.”

“True, it would be terrifying if your stories were responded to by your dad.”

Deasy rolled her eyes. Ignoring Lucas’s words, she turned her attention back to her father’s grave.

“This is him, Pa. Lucas. He’s the son of Uncle Andreas, Dad’s friend. Deasy finally married him. It’s fate and the strength of the amulet I wear. No matter what happens, he always comes back to me.”

Lucas laughed at Deasy’s words. Ironically, the woman next to him was rambling nonsensically.

“Nice to meet you, Pa,” Lucas replied to Deasy’s introduction. “I’m Lucas, the son of Dad’s friend. It’s a small world, isn’t it? I’ve traveled all over the place, even fought and became rivals, and in the end, I became your son-in-law, despite being from different worlds.”

Lucas turned to Deasy. He reached for the hand of the woman who was now his wife, held it, and gave it a brief kiss.

“Lucas asks for permission to marry Deasy, Pa. Lucas asks to take on the task of looking after Deasy for the rest of his life. You can rest peacefully up there. Don’t worry about what will happen to Deasy. Lucas loves her deeply and promises to always be there, always faithful, until death do us part.”

Deasy sighed. Instead of being touched or flattered by Lucas’s heartfelt words, she looked skeptical. She seemed to doubt what Lucas had just told her late father.

“Oh, you’re just being cheesy. Your words don’t convince me, Luc,” she said.

“Why don’t they convince you?” Lucas asked, looking puzzled. He was sure there was nothing wrong with what he said, and he meant every word of it.

“I’m serious, Honey. I’ll prove my words.”

“Oh, if only Devina weren’t sick and hadn’t filed for the annulment, you would still marry her, right?”

Instead of denying it, Lucas nodded. Due to this response, Deasy became annoyed and pinched his arm.

“See! You’re so annoying!”

“Listen to the reasons first,” Lucas said, seeking a chance to explain. “Just so you know, even though I was angry and disappointed with what you did, I can’t deny that I care about you a lot, Des. I’m still trying to help you avoid serious legal consequences for the mistake you made.”

Deasy took a deep breath and tried to listen carefully to what Lucas was explaining.

“If your dad wanted to, he could have you dragged into a courtroom. You shouldn’t turn a blind eye to the losses you caused due to a misunderstanding.”

“I know, Luc,” Deasy replied. “I’m aware of that, and I truly regret it.”Belonging © NôvelDram/a.Org.

“Because your dad didn’t want to take your case to the authorities, I offered to do anything he asked, as long as he didn’t interfere in your life. And your dad asked me to continue my marriage to Devina. I tried to refuse, but he insisted, on the condition that it would free you from any legal claims. I thought it wouldn’t hurt to accept his request for now. After we’re married, I can ask Devina for a divorce and be with you again. Whatever happens, I’ll do it for you.”

Deasy finally understood. She appreciated what Lucas had done. Besides, her husband was in a difficult position, and she couldn’t simply blame him.

“But…” Lucas continued. It seemed like the words coming from his mouth were endless, meant to be expressed to Deasy. “As you said before, fate wants to keep us together no matter what, right? It’s like God is really on our side. And now, we are united.”

Deasy nodded in agreement.

“I had even resigned myself to it back then. I was willing to let you belong to someone else.”

“No, honey. No matter what, I still belong to you.”

Lucas tightly held Deasy’s hand again. They gazed for a moment at her late father’s grave and then decided to leave.

If earlier Lucas had taken Deasy to visit her late father’s grave, this time, before heading home, Lucas took his wife to visit his father’s house.

For whatever reason or purpose, Deasy complied without protest. She thought maybe this was a ritual commonly done by newlyweds. Visiting the homes of both sets of parents to seek blessings before embarking on married life.

“Good morning, Uncle,” Deasy greeted when she and Lucas were in Andreas’ residence and were now sitting in the middle-aged man’s office.

In theory, there should still be an air of happiness and post-wedding euphoria. But Deasy felt nervous and somewhat terrified. Especially since her father-in-law was giving her cold stares as if he wanted to dissect her.

“Uncle?” Andreas said with narrowed eyes. “Don’t you consider me your father-in-law or something?”

“N-no… that’s not what I meant, Pa. Deasy just feels nervous. That’s why I’m confused.”

“Why nervous? Do you think I eat people?”

Deasy glanced at Lucas, hoping her husband would help her escape this awkward situation. But instead of assistance, Lucas remained silent. He just smiled casually, as if to say, “Not my problem, so you handle it yourself,” which was so typical of Lucas!

“It’s not like that, Pa,” Deasy stammered nervously. “Deasy is just scared.”

“Scared?” Andreas repeated. “Scared of what?”

“Still scared that maybe you don’t approve of Deasy’s marriage to Lucas.”

Andreas laughed, seemingly mocking her. Shortly after, he responded.

“Whether I approve or not is irrelevant. Lucas loves you, and besides, you’re clearly carrying Morales’s offspring. Even if I dislike what you’ve done, I can’t deny that.”

Deasy just nodded. Even though her father-in-law’s words sounded cold, she couldn’t really protest. She was self-aware enough to know that she was in the wrong from the beginning. So if her father-in-law still felt upset, it was understandable.

“Deasy apologizes, Pa,” she muttered, still nervous. She took a deep breath, trying to dispel the lingering anxiety. “Deasy has made many mistakes and caused a lot of harm. Deasy promises not to act recklessly in the future, which could harm many people.”

“Good,” Andreas nodded. “It’s good that you realize your actions were seriously wrong before. I hope such things won’t happen again. I also hope that you’re genuinely committed to your marriage with Lucas, not out of revenge or anything like that.”

Deasy immediately shook her head, refuting what Andreas suspected of her.

“No, Pa. Deasy sincerely loves and cares for Lucas. It’s not about taking advantage or seeking revenge. I hope you believe what I’m saying.”

Andreas gazed intently at his daughter-in-law. He delved into Deasy’s eyes and found that the woman in front of him was speaking sincerely.

“I believe you. That’s why I approve of your marriage. I hope that after this, you and Lucas will truly nurture and build a family.”

Deasy nodded. Hearing her father-in-law, who seemed to have truly forgiven her, she felt relieved. Now, her only goal in life was clear: to build a serious marriage and raise children with Lucas.
