Chapter 3349 Wait For Announcement

“Yes, I’m Megan.” Megan nodded in response on the stage, exuding a sense of confidence from her eyes.

Once she answered, the judge scanned her from head to toe. A few seconds later, he seemed to be more relaxed and have acknowledged her acting.

He put her resume aside and gave her a standing ovation. Then, he commended, “To be honest, your resume was given to us upon a forceful recommendation. My initial impression was that you were merely a pretty face. I didn’t expect that you’d turn out to be an acting prodigy. If there is no better candidate, I’m willing to give you this opportunity.”

Megan’s heart skipped a beat after listening to the pertinent comment by the judge. Although the room was dimly lit, she stared at the judge and eventually recognized him.

He was Pierce Hughes, the director of The Royal Wife.

So I guess this means that he acknowledged my acting?

Although Megan was excited, she understood Pierce’s reminder, whereby her success was closely connected to the individual who recommended her resume.

As such, she held in her emotions and asked nervously, “I know you, Mr. Hughes. It’s my honor to receive your recognition, and I would like to express my deepest gratitude. However, may I ask who’s the one who recommended my resume?”

The whole thing had piqued her interest. Although she had an inkling that it was probably Jake who did it, she wondered if it could be someone else.

Pierce didn’t expect that she would be that straightforward. A moment later, he crossed his arms and shook his head. “I can’t tell you that. Anyway, you’ll get the answer one day. For now, you may go back and wait for the announcement.”

Seeing how resolute he was, Megan knew that she wouldn’t be able to persuade him no matter how hard she tried.

She couldn’t help but let out a helpless sigh. Must I ask Jake directly? Is it the only way to know the truth?

Megan was partially delighted but upset as well. As she exited the audition room, her troubled look made Donna’s heart sink. Text property © Nôvel(D)ra/ma.Org.

Donna came up to her anxiously and asked, “What’s wrong? Did you fail the audition?”

She didn’t know that Megan wasn’t troubled by the results. As such, she chose her words wisely and carefully to avoid hurting Megan.

“Huh? What did you say?” Megan was in a daze for a while before realizing that she was already standing outside the audition room. After looking around, she recalled that Donna seemed to have asked her some questions.

“I’m talking about the audition. Do you think that you’ve failed to secure a role?”

Donna was apparently dissatisfied with Megan’s slow response. As she was nervous to know the results, she couldn’t understand why Megan was acting as if nothing happened.

After sitting down on one of the chairs, Megan blinked and shook her head. “Nope. The director said so himself that he’ll choose me if there’s no better candidate.”

Donna’s widened in disbelief upon hearing that. This is a TV series with a huge production budget, yet she has been selected right after her first audition? I don’t think anyone will believe it even if I tell them!

“Megan, I knew you can do it!” Feeling even more elated than Megan, Donna exclaimed, “This is awesome! I’ll treat you to dinner tonight!”

Although Megan didn’t wish to dash Donna’s hope, she thought Donna ought not to be overconfident. Given that the previous female lead hadn’t shown up yet, Megan had a feeling that the director would want them to compete with one another.

“Let’s just wait until the role’s been confirmed to have that dinner. After all, Mr. Hughes didn’t ask me to sign the contract on the spot. There are still many uncertainties, and we should wait patiently.”

Donna’s excitement faded away right after Megan finished. She put down the wine glass and murmured to herself, ”I guess Mr. Hughes did it only to make sure Megan would clear her calendar for the TV series.”
