My Most Precious Human

Chapter 81

Chapter 81

A hesitant smile appeared on my face. Sariel seemed proud, but underneath his confident mask, I

could sense anger, although I wasn't sure why he would be angry. I gently stroked his cheek, trying to Upstodatee from Novel(D)ra/m/a.O(r)g

brush off the shades of darkness from his face.

"Should I call you "Your Majesty" from now on?" I laughed faintly.

"Perhaps on some very formal occasions. You may bow down to me too," he chuckled cockily.

I nudged his shoulder, pouting. He laughed, then he embraced me tightly, kissing my forehead, my

eyes, and my cheeks until he hungrily reached for my lips.

"I shall make you my Queen," he whispered while kissing me down my neck.

His words felt like a sword piercing my heart. I kept chasing the thought of what would happen to me

after Sariel became the King, and now it was time to face reality.

"Queen…" I repeated, smiling bitterly, "I doubt that the nobles would let a human sit by your side."

"I will make them accept you," he said confidently, his lips moving to my breasts.

He bit my nipples angrily, as if he was trying to release his frustration. I hissed when his aggressive

passion started to hurt me.

"Sariel… stop," I mumbled, pushing him away.

He lifted his head and looked into my eyes. I smiled warmly, staring at his burning red pupils. My heart

pounded. This moment had a bitter-sweet taste. I knew that I was going to enter a violent and

dangerous world, a place where he couldn't always protect me. But no matter how hard my life would

become, I knew I wouldn't bear to leave Sariel. It was too late for that.

I reached out my hand and sank my fingers into his silk hair. "I love you," the words left my mouth

without knowing.

His eyes became wider, and he just kept staring into my eyes for a few seconds. Then he gave me

another passionate kiss, caressing my tongue with his and making my lips burn. Once he stopped, he

smiled at me, lied down, and pulled me closer to his chest.

"I will never let you go, my Queen," he muttered, tightening his embrace around me.

I didn't hope to hear any "I love yous" from him. After all, I didn't plan on confessing my love either. It

had sort of happened, but I didn't regret it. The warmth Sariel gave me was enough. The longing and

desire he had in his eyes when he looked at me were enough. The sweet words he spoke to my ears

were enough… for now.

I lied in his arms, but I couldn't sleep. I was restless and uncertain of anything. I also had a feeling that

there was something crucial that Sariel hadn't told me. He could have been powerful, but there were

things beyond his power. The ones behind the attacks on the castle and New Argent City were still

unknown, and it meant that Sariel could have had a strong enemy somewhere. Being the king was

giving him authority, but it was also exposing him. Moreover, if he genuinely planned to legally make

me the queen, that would definitely bring him more enemies eager to get rid of the problem, which in

that case would mean getting rid of me…

The morning was hectic. I had never seen all of the servants running around at one time. They were

packing up the King so that he could move to the Palace as a king should. I was being packed as well,

although all it took was to throw all the clothes from the closet into one suitcase and pack my laptop.

No matter how much Martha and everyone else said that they were envious of my new position, I

replied that there was nothing to be jealous about. I knew exactly how dangerous and uncertain my life

was going to be from now on.

The good thing about the castle atmosphere becoming all hectic was that no one cared about Sariel's

no-men-around-the-north-wing order.

"May I come in, Your Highness?" Patrick knocked on the door frame of my chamber.

"Please, don't call me that," I chuckled, gesturing for him to step inside.

"Do you need some help with packing, my Queen-to-be?" He grinned, bowing respectfully.

"I'm begging you to stop calling me like that, and no, I didn't have much to pack in the first place," I

replied, looking around my emptied bedroom.

"I see… I came too late." He pouted, looking like a scolded puppy.

I snorted and couldn't help but raise my hand to brush his thick, black hair. He instantly flinched,

looking around to see if anybody saw it happen. Then he nervously cleared his throat and combed his

hair with his fingers.

"Don't be so jumpy, Mr. Kim," I chuckled.

"Ms. Leber… don't you realize that the Duke… the King would kill any man getting closer to his loved

one?" he asked while a nervous grimace appeared on his face.

"But it's not you who is getting closer to me; I was the one who decided to touch your hair," I smirked.

"I'm afraid it might not matter in King's eyes..." he worriedly stated.

"Don't worry, I will protect you," I grinned and looked at his new, flashy, army-like uniform. "By the way, I

heard that the castle guards are going to be divided into two groups?" I sought confirmation.

"Yes," he said with a proud grin, "I was selected to join the King and you and live in the Palace while

the other group would stay to protect the castle."

That would explain the uniform. It was to be expected that the King would like to surround himself with

an army he trusted, and Patrick Kim was one of the best warriors trained by Leo.

"I'm glad that you are coming with us." I smiled, but the restlessness related to my new situation quickly

shadowed my expression.

"What's wrong?" Patrick noticed right away.

"The Royal Palace… Princess Elora lives there, right?" I asked hesitantly.

"Yes," he sighed and smiled wryly and quickly added, "but I'm sure the King will move her somewhere

far from you, Ms. Leber. The Palace belongs to the Kings. It's not like she owns the place; she was

simply born there."

I knew that he was trying to cheer me up, but even in his voice tone, I could sense that her presence

wasn't going to make my living there easy. Suddenly, some other guard in the same uniform as

Patrick's stopped by my door.

"Your Highness, the King asks you to come outside. It is time to go," he bowed down as if he was

standing before the queen.

It felt awkward and uncomfortable. My status here seemed to be changing every few days, and I wasn't

good at adjusting to those changes.

"Very well," I responded as nobly as I could, "Take me to the King then."

I grabbed my coat and followed him and Patrick outside the castle. It was strange saying goodbye to

those walls. I had begun to feel familiar with that place only recently and was about to leave again. Of

course, I used to move all the time, but Calvet's Castle was the first place that started to feel like home.

As I walked out of the mansion, a sorrowful smile appeared on my face. I thought that I was going to

miss that place.

"Lilith!" I heard Sariel's voice calling me.

I raised my head and saw him smiling and reaching his hand towards me. My heart fluttered instantly,

making the corners of my lips raise uncontrollably. As I gave him my hand and let him lead me to the

car, my gloominess dissolved in the air. No matter how dangerous my life was going to be from now on,

I was going to face it, fighting it alongside the man I loved…
