My Mirror Image by Maybe Not (Candice And Alex’s)

Chapter 0547

Chapter 0547

Oscar's voice rang out clearly. "If you can do anything for her, then kneel for me. Say that the Elysians have wronged me and my mom."

There was only the sound of the wind as they stood on the rooftop. Alex remained silent while Oscar calmly watched him.

Candice slowly widened her eyes. She glanced at Oscar, then back at Alex. Somehow, her heart began to race.

She opened her mouth while looking at Alex. Her throat was constricted, and her eyes were filled with panic and unease.

Alex didn't move.

Oscar chuckled. "What's wrong? You can give away shares, but can’t you fulfil this small request?"

Forcing Alex to kneel wasn't a small request; it was plain humiliation.

Oscar didn't want to hide it anymore.

He wanted someone from the Elysians to kneel before him, not just for him but also for his mother.

He wanted the heartless members of the Elysians to regret what they had done.

Oscar said, "Alex, don't blame me. You should blame Daniel for being your father, blame you for being an Elysian, and blame your mom for marrying him. If it weren’t for you, my mom wouldn't have died."

When Oscar uttered the last sentence, his voice trembled. "When she died, she was still hoping Daniel would come back to see her one last time! Do you know why?"

As Oscar recalled those painful memories, his once gentle face gradually turned ferocious. In fact, Oscar knew he wasn’t in a good mental state. Since witnessing his mother's suicide at a young age, he had had to take sleeping pills to fall asleep.

His father, whom he once worshipped, didn’t even show up at his mother's funeral, let alone remember that he had left a son behind.

He closed his eyes and told Alex, "Because your mother went to see her and humiliated her."

And that poor and hateful woman, until her death, had thought that Daniel was unaware of this.

She still foolishly waited for her lover, believing that using such extreme means would make Daniel pity her more.

But ironically, the man she held in her heart didn’t even attend her funeral.

But what Oscar didn't say was that on the day of Jovita’s funeral, he secretly went to Elysian Manor and saw the lights and laughter inside.

Except for him and his elderly grandmother, no one mourned Jovita’s death.

But later on, Daniel told him that he had always cherished his mother in his heart.

How hypocritical.

The distant sound of police sirens didn't register with Oscar.

He tightened his grip on Candice's hand slightly, his gaze remaining fixed on Alex. "Since Daniel's not here, you shall kneel for him. This is what you owe me!"

Perhaps hearing the sound of the police car, he became more agitated. He took two steps backward while holding Candice.

Candice was only two steps away from the edge of the rooftop. Oscar growled, "Kneel! You love her so much, right? Why can't you fulfill this request? You Elysians are simply hypocritical and ridiculous. You’re clearly selfish and narrow-minded, yet you pretend to be genuine and caring. How will you repay what you owe me?"

Oscar's eyes gradually reddened as he glared at Alex resentfully. Like a trapped beast, he roared, "Kneel! Kneel now! Apologize for what you’ve done to my mother!"

Alex, seeing the approaching police car, said, "The police are here."

"I knew you'd call the police, but do you think I care?" Oscar's ferocity surfaced. He suddenly pulled Candice back two steps, sneering, "So what if the police are here? The more, the merrier. Let me repeat what happened the day she jumped. Alex, I'll make sure you never forget that it's because of your selfishness that Candice will die! You'll live in regret and pain for the rest of your life!"

Oscar seemed to have given up hope as he dragged Candice backward.

Candice was already weak, and Oscar was strong given his physiological advantage. With her hands bound, she couldn't struggle. Even though she tried to resist, she was forcefully dragged to the edge of the rooftop.

The fear in her eyes couldn't be concealed. The fact that she was facing away from the edge only intensified her fear.

She couldn't help but call out hoarsely, "Alex..."

"I’ll kneel!" Alex's deep voice halted Oscar's actions. Alex looked gently at Candice, as if comforting her, then turned to Oscar. "As long as you let her go, I'll kneel."

Oscar paused and didn't pull Candice back any further. Instead, he lifted his chin, looking at Alex with an air of pride.

Alex and he locked eyes, then Alex silently got down on his knees.

Candice felt her heart being squeezed painfully. Tears continued to flow from her eyes as she watched Alex while shaking her head repeatedly. "Don't do this, Alex. Please, you can't."

But Alex looked at her, his voice gentle. "Stop crying. It hurts to see you like this." Exclusive © content by N(ô)ve/l/Drama.Org.

He kneeled on one knee, his back straight.

He looked quite disheveled now, but Oscar, towering above him, gazed at him with a sense of vindictive pleasure. "Beg me, Alex."

Candice bit her lip, closed her eyes, and turned her head to the side. She couldn't bear to watch.

A proud man like Alex was now kneeling so miserably before Oscar, enduring his humiliation.

Candice's lip was nearly bloody from the force of her bite.

Oscar seemed to be enjoying this. He couldn't help but taunt Alex, "Alex, what makes you better than me? You Elysians are a bunch of hypocrites and wolves. I've said I'll make you all regret it!"

He became emotional again, causing him to loosen his grip on Candice's hand slightly. At this moment, Candice forcefully broke free from his grasp.

Right then, Alex, who had been kneeling, abruptly stood up and moved swiftly to pull Candice.

They were fast, but so was Oscar. He subconsciously pushed Candice toward the edge.

Candice was already close to the edge of the rooftop, and with little strength left in her body, she couldn't avoid Oscar's push. She tilted forward and was about to fall off the roof.

But the next moment, she was pulled back. She felt herself being enveloped in someone's arms before rolling on the ground.

Despite that, she was unharmed in Alex’s embrace.

Tears still streaming down her face, she hurriedly got up from Alex's embrace and looked at his pale face, choked with emotion. "Alex, Alex? Are you okay?"

As she spoke, tears continued to fall. Alex grunted as he reached out to wipe the tears from her face. "I'm happy. I finally found you, and I'm glad you're safe."
