Chapter 1573
Charles had never realized how intensely Skylar was into celebrity fandom. He had assumed it was just about meeting someone, getting an autograph, or taking a photo.
But as the door closed behind him, Charles suddenly understood something. This wasn't just about fandom.
There was something more, something he didn't know. He wondered whether it might be related to Maxine's recent condition.
Before he could think further, the crew called him over to make changes to a scene in the script, and he had to go review it. Meanwhile, Skylar entered Maxine's resting room.
Maxine handed her a bottle of water. "Are you really my fan?" Maxine asked, looking at Skylar with a hint of doubt.noveldrama
Her fans were mostly younger kids or girls around her age. When they met her, the first thing they did was ask for an autograph or a picture. Even the crew's relatives and friends who visited would ask for photos. It was rare for anyone to want to talk to her privately.
Skylar nodded. "I'm not your fan. I've never seen any of your work."
Maxine was surprised. "Then why...?"
She wasn't worried that Skylar might do anything harmful. After all, she was Charles' sister, and everyone in the industry knew how respected he was. His reputation was excellent, so his sister wasn't someone who would harm her.
But she was curious about the purpose behind this. She wondered why Skylar wanted to meet her.
"I know Minerva," Skylar added.
Maxine's expression changed immediately at the mention of Minerva's name. She looked at Skylar in shock. "Did Minerva send you to find me? Has she already told you about me? If so, why didn't she come to talk to me herself?"
Skylar saw Maxine's emotions shift, so she spoke gently, "Minerva and I are friends. We talked about a lot of things, but she didn't send me here. I came because I wanted to meet you."
Upon hearing this, Maxine's emotions settled slightly. "Are you here to stand up for Minerva?"
Maxine knew that in the eyes of many, her appearance in front of Minerva and Emerson, saying those things and doing those actions, made her look like nothing more than a homewrecker-the kind of person she despised most.
But no one could understand how she felt or what she had gone through.
"I know you might find what I'm saying hard to believe, but Emerson was still my husband just a few days ago. He adored me, loved me, and my career was thriving. Everything was so perfect," Maxine said, her eyes welling up with tears again as she spoke.
The past few days had felt like a nightmare she couldn't wake up from. She had always feared this kind of situation, but now it felt so real. No matter how hard she tried, she couldn't escape it.
She didn't know where it had gone wrong. She wondered if she had lost her mind because of her work, making her believe she had been reborn. Otherwise, it was impossible for her to have two sets of memories in her mind.
One set was of memories of being in love with Emerson, while the other was of a life in which she barely knew him.
Skylar saw the struggle in Maxine's eyes and spoke gently, "I believe you didn't mean to ruin anyone's marriage."
Maxine's tears flowed freely, her disbelief evident as she looked at Skylar. "You believe me?" she asked. "Yes, I do." Skylar nodded.
Seeing the genuine trust in Skylar's
eyes, Maxine choked on her sobs. "In the past few days, whether it's my parents, Emerson or Minerva, they all think I've lost my mind. They say I'm just too stressed from acting and can't separate the role from reality.

"But this isn't just some stress. My life shouldn't be like this. I don't know how to explain it to you. It's like I'm someone in their 30s who suddenly gets to relive their 20s all over again. Do you read those reincarnation novels? It's like that."
What do you think?
