Business Clients
Marissa looked at him with a serious expression.
“But don’t you think that if she prioritize her career more than she does your relationship isn’t that a bad sign?” she asked.
Alexander paused for a moment, his smile fading slightly as he considered Marissa’s question. It was clear that the conversation was starting to veer into uncomfortable territory, and he didn’t want to reveal too much about his personal life.
“Marissa, I appreciate your curiosity, but I think we’ve delved into personal matters quite a bit. Let’s not go too deep into that realm,” he gently suggested.
Marissa immediately sensed the shift in the conversation’s tone and felt somewhat embarrassed. “I’m sorry, Alexander. I didn’t mean to overstep. It won’t happen again.”
Alexander quickly reassured her.
“No need to apologize, Marissa. It’s just that some things are more private than others.
Let’s enjoy our meal and focus on our business endeavors.”
Marissa’s question about Jessie lingered in Alexander’s mind as he continued to eat.
He couldn’t help but mull over her words, and part of him wondered if there was some truth to what she had said.
After a few bites, he suddenly put his fork down and stared off into the distance, lost in thought.
The conversation replayed in his mind, and he questioned if he had been too idealistic about Jessie’s career-oriented mindset.
Marissa, noticing his distant expression, asked, “Is everything alright, Alexander?”
He slowly brought his focus back to the present, offering a faint smile.
“Yes, Marissa, everything’s fine. Just lost in thought for a moment. Let’s continue our meal.”
Although he continued with their meal, her words had definitely given him something to think about, and it stirred up a sense of doubt he had never experienced before.
What’s this feeling of unease? Am I beginning to see that Jessie’s career is affecting our relationship?
He thought about it as he kept eating.
After their meal, Alexander paid for the meal with his card and then he received a call from the driver that he was present and currently outside the restaurant waiting for them.
“The driver is here. So let’s go.” he said.
Marissa nodded and she got up and they both left the restaurant and entered the car that would take them to their new suites.
While inside the car, Marissa looked at Alexander and then turned as their was silence between the both of them.
She felt she must have said something that had changed his mood drastically and didn’t know how to liven the atmosphere.
As they sat in the car, the silence between them was palpable. Marissa could sense that her earlier questions about Alexander’s relationship with Jessie had created a somewhat uncomfortable atmosphere, and she felt compelled to change that.
She leaned forward and asked the driver, “Is there a nice place to hang out, maybe a theater or a cultural spot, that’s worth exploring in the area?”
The driver, who had been listening to their conversation, turned and smiled at Marissa.
“Certainly, ma’am. We have a beautiful theater nearby where you can enjoy a play, and there’s also a charming art gallery not too far from there.”
Marissa nodded and then turned her attention to Alexander, attempting to break the ice.
“What do you think, Alexander? A bit of local culture and entertainment, perhaps?”
He glanced at her and offered a small smile, appreciating her effort to lighten the mood.
“Sounds like a great idea, Marissa. Let’s check it out.”
“Okay, to the theater we go!” she exclaimed.
She was happy that she could make him smile. Even though she knew that they could only be business partners for three months. She was happy that she could make him smile.
After the theater that day, it was almost time for their dinner meeting with their potential client.
The driver took them to their hotel and they prepared for the dinner they were invited to.
Marissa wore a light coloured pink gown and left her hair down and applied light makeup to compliment the color of her dress.
When Alexander saw her, he couldn’t help himself and he complimented her dressing.
“You look…. gorgeous.”
Marissa blushed at Alexander’s compliment. She hadn’t expected such a response, and it momentarily threw her off balance.
“Thank…… you…..,” she stammered, her heart racing as she felt a warmth spread through her.
Despite her earlier determination to focus solely on their business deal, the emotions between them seemed to have a life of their own.
Alexander, looking dashing in his suit, offered his arm to Marissa, and she took it, her heart still fluttering.
“So shall we go get that business deal?”
Marissa smiled and then nodded.
“Yes! Let’s go!”
They both left their hotel room and headed to the grand hall for the dinner meeting with their potential client.
As they entered the grand hall, Alexander immediately saw his potential client and then alerted Marissa who saw them as well.
They moved towards the table where they were and greeted the clients warmly.
As they approached the potential clients, Alexander extended a hand and greeted them warmly. The clients returned the gesture, and Alexander took a moment to introduce Marissa.
“May I present to you my beautiful wife, Marissa. She’s been instrumental in our recent successes.”
Marissa smiled and shook hands with the clients, conveying confidence and professionalism. The clients were immediately intrigued by her.
“Oh… you are married? We didn’t know.” one of the clients named Fredrick.
“Yes, I am married to this beautiful woman, but it was just a private wedding, nothing too loud. You know what I mean?” Alexander said.
They all laughed and sat down.
One of them, a middle-aged woman named Sophie, couldn’t help but be curious.
“It’s lovely to meet you, Marissa. How did you and Alexander meet?”Content held by NôvelDrama.Org.
Marissa kept her cool, recalling their rehearsed story. “We met through mutual friends at a charity event. It was an instant connection.”
Another client, Robert, chimed in, “You must be a remarkable woman to win Alexander’s heart.”
Marissa gave a modest chuckle. “Well…, I believe we complement each other quite well, and we’ve achieved a lot together.”
