Love’ss 87
Chapter 87
Andrew answered the phone, his demeanor cold and ominous. The dangerous silence on his end was clear to Elijah, who
responded with a low chuckle.
Just then, the warehouse doors creaked open, and several men in black dragged an older man inside, tossing him roughly to the ground.
Andrew and Wilson realized it was Joe Ergot, the man they had arranged to meet the night before. A deadly, palpable tension filled the air as they realized they were trapped.
Andrew’s voice was calm but threatening. “What do you want?”
“Don’t bother trying to call the cops. Your phone won’t get through.”
Andrew remained silent. Their phone lines were interfered with since they entered this area.
Elijah chuckled and said, “You haven’t been able to find that Maddie kid since last night, right?”
Kid? Madelyn was his sister–in–law.
His tone was mocking with no attempt to hide his disdain for Andrew and Madelyn’s relationship.
“Did you take her?” Andrew said dangerously.
“Don’t worry. She’s safe for now,” Elijah said.
The air grew thick with Andrew’s fury, a suffocating pressure
that threatened to explode. He closed his eyes and hissed, ” Don’t you dare hurt her.”
Elijah remained unfazed by his threats. “If you do as you’re told, she’ll return to you safely.”
Without waiting for Andrew to respond, Elijah continued, Someone will deliver the documents in ten minutes. Sign them.
“I want a video call with Madelyn,” Andrew demanded angrily.
However, Elijah replied with chilling calmness, “Andrew, you’re in no position to make demands.
With that, the line went dead. Andrew listened to the empty hum, his hand wrapped around the phone so tightly that his
knuckles shone white.
Andrew immediately fired off a text to Elijah. “If she is harmed in any way, I’ll make sure you lose everything.”
The message was sent, but silence reigned on the other end.
Wilson looked at Andrew thoughtfully. He had heard every word through the phone’s speaker and knew without a doubt that they had fallen into a trap.
Their opponent hadn’t been after the shipment all along. Their target was something in Andrew’s possession.
Elijah’s scheming against his brother had cost Wilson dearly. His tone turned icy. “It seems like Elijah has been abroad for too long. He has forgotten this city isn’t his playground to run
wild.”
Andrew lit a cigarette, taking a long drag. “Maddie is in his hands.”
“Do you believe him?”
Andrew remained silent, deep in thought. That morning’s call from Elijah was intended to provoke him. He still didn’t know. where Madelyn was, but he couldn’t risk her safety.
Wilson glanced at him, his breath uneven. He didn’t say a word, but his unsettled demeanor spoke volumes.
Madelyn had followed Andrew and Wilson to the warehouse. She parked her car atop a high spot along a narrow path through the dense woods. Her location gave her a sweeping view of the entire compound.
Retrieving her binoculars, Madelyn scanned the area and spotted the grim–faced men in black lurking around the perimeter.Material © NôvelDrama.Org.
Madelyn’s expression darkened as she swiftly dialed a number on her phone.
Uncertain of Andrew’s current situation, she hesitated to send him a message, fearing it might distract him from the task at hand if he knew she was nearby.
After pondering for a moment, she decided to call Rowan.
“Mrs. Miller,” Rowan answered almost immediately. His voice was cold and tinged with gloom, devoid of any respect. He sounded rather impatient, too.
“I don’t have time to explain. You need to call your boss immediately and warn him there’s trouble outside,” Madelyn instructed.
Rowan didn’t understand Madelyn’s instructions and said irritably, “Where are you referring to?”
“Just make the call,” Madelyn insisted.
