family’s business.”

“What’s his relationship with Summer?” Xander couldn’t wait to hear the important part. That was the only thing he was interested in knowing when he asked his assistant to dig up about Hunter.

“I think he has a crush on….

“You think, or he has a crush on her?” Xander cut his assistant off impatiently, and the young man bowed as he nodded his head

Xander slowly clenched his fingers tightly into a fist as he stared into space while tapping the fingers of his other hand on the desk slowly.

After he ran into Hunter at Oscar’s engagement party, he was forced to do his research about him.

“That…” He paused and bit his bottom lip, unable to complete his statement. How could she move on so easily as if nothing happened? How could she move on with another man when he was here struggling to let go even after everything she had done to him? Why couldn’t he still bring himself to stop thinking about her even after all the pain she had caused him by sleeping with another man and even allowing herself to get pregnant for him?

“Is there anything you want me to do, Sir?” His assistant asked him, and he closed his eyes briefly as he rested his back on the chair.

“Kill him, Kill that bastard,” Those were the only words screaming in his mind and head at that moment, and if killing was not an offense, he wouldn’t have minded taking Hunter’s life for having a crush on his woman.

“Nothing. I want to be left alone,”

“Yes, Sir,” His assistant walked out of his study, and he breathed out.

What has she been up to over the years that they were not together?

‘I cheated on you. I really did‘ Even though it had been days since she said those disgusting words to him, they still seemed like they were never going to leave his head. How could she admit to that right in front of him?

The sound of his ringing phone disrupted his thoughts, and he quickly grabbed the phone when he saw ‘school‘ displayed on the screen. He swiped the answer button and held the phone to his ear

“Hello, Mr. Xander. I’m calling from Ella’s school,” A feminine voice sounded from the other end.

“Did something happen to Ella?” His eyebrows furrowed worriedly as he sat up on the chair.

“She got into a fight with one of the students. Can you please come over to the school immediately?” Came the feminine voice again.

“I’ll be

there right away,” He stood up then grabbed his car keys, and stormed out of his study.

“Nick, I got a call from Ella’s school. I need to go there now. Wait here for me,” He said to his assistant and left immediately.

The ride to the school didn’t take much the stairs that led to the school veranda

time before he arrived. He pulled over at the parking lot, then alighted from the car and walked briskly toward

“You are here. Mr. Xander? Please come with me. This way,” It was almost as though the young lady in her twenties was waiting for him as she walked over to welcome him. She didn’t stop for seconds before she started walking away while he followed her..

Xander was led to the principal’s office where a little girl of about five years of age and two boys almost the same age as her was.

“Finally! You are here.” The principal, a woman in her forties who was seated behind her desk, smiled at Xander as soon as he walked inside.

“Daddy…” The little bionde haired girl squeaked excitedly as she ran and hugged Xander. He squatted down to her level and embraced her warmly.

“What happened, darling? Are you ok? Did you get into a fight with your classmates?” Xander asked softly as he cupped her cheek in his palm and looked into her pair of blue eyes passionately.

“Yes, Daddy. They were bullying me,” She pouted her lips and whined while pointing toward the two boys who were standing with their backs facing

Xander.

“Don’t cry, sweetie. Come here. Let’s go see your principal,” He stood up after he wiped her tears, held her hand, and led her to the principal’s desk.

“It’s nice to meet you again, Mr. Xander. I’m sorry for calling you here out of the blue moon. I understand you must be busy,” The woman apologized to him, and he nodded.

“It’s fine. What happened, please?”

“Please sit,” She gestured toward the empty chair in front of her, and he sat on it.

“What happened to Ella?” Xander couldn’t hold in his curiosity and worries, so he asked the principal.

“Ella got into a fight with these two new transfer students,” The principal pointed to the two boys who looked so unbothered about the whole thing happening

“Daddy, they were bullying me,” Again, Ella pouted her lips and whined.

“Boys… What happened between you and my Ella? Xander tried to be as polite as he could, but when the two boys looked at him, his heart froze in his chest for a second, and he felt this strange spark.

For seconds, he couldn’t bring himself to stop staring at the two boys who shared a slight resemblance as him. From their hair color to their eyes, and their aura. Just everything gave Xander this weird feeling. He was just seeing the kids for the first time, but he somehow felt connected to them. What’s this feeling? He asked himself as he tried to shrug this crazy feeling off and concentrate, but he failed woefully.

“You sounded humble and polite. You couldn’t be the father of this spoilt little girl. I think there is a mix–up somewhere,” Xander couldn’t believe his ears when one of the boys spoke up.

“Jake! Behave!” The principal slammed her hand on the desk, and the little boy scoffed and rolled his eyes.

“Jake is right, Mrs. Lewis. This spoilt little brat started the fight. She was picking on my brother first, and you weren’t expecting us to act like nothing happened, right?” The other little boy chipped in.

“Jack!”

“Mom told us to respect women, but she didn’t say we could allow women or anyone to bully us. She was threatening us that her Daddy is a shareholder of the school and would throw us out…” Jake paused and scoffed.

“She must’ve lost it. Even if your Dad owns the school, as long as we are paying our school fees, then you have no right to insult or bully us,” Jack continued.

Xander was impressed by the way the boys handled the situation. Even though he barely know what happened, he couldn’t help but feel proud of these strange boys for some reason unknown to hin

“Jake, Jack, quiet!” Mrs. Lewis snarled at them, and they shut their mouth

“Daddy, look what they are saying to me. You need to fight for me,” Ella pouted her lips as tugged on Xander’s clothes,

“Mr. Xander… I’m sorry I called you…”

“It’s fine. Can you please don’t call the boys‘ family? I will resolve this amicably between the kids. Can we talk about it outside your office, please?” Xander demanded, and the principal nodded.

“Come with me, boys… Let’s go talk outside,” He smiled as he stood up and held a’s hand.

“Daddy, what are you doing? Aren’t you going to.

“Shhhh! Follow me,” Xander cuts Ella off. Even though he didn’t know what happened between the kids, he was sure Ella was the cause of the fight and she would be faulty later. A spoilt little girl, that is who she was.

“Boys… I’m sorry about what happened today, ok? You should please forgive my girl. Is there anything I should do to make it up to you?” Xander squatted in front of the boys and asked with a smile on his face.

“Nothing. Just tell your daughter to be nice,” Jack stated bluntly and stepped away from him.

“We won’t go easy on her if she tries to bully us again. Tell your daughter to stay away from my brother and me,” Jake said confidently then held his brother’s hand and walked away, leaving Xander in awe.

“Just who the heck are they?” He mumbled as he watched them walk away until they were out of his sight…
