Invincible Heir

Chapter 16 Reap what you sow

Chapter 16 Reap what you sow

Tracy felt her heart grow sour with indignation and resentment. She’d established the Samho Group

with her own two hands, until the Perry Clan took that from her. Now she finally had an opportunity to

take the company back, but her own grandfather was breaking his word just like that.

“You can’t accept it?”

Henry repeated icily and then went on. “If that trash husband of yours hadn’t made enemies of Connor,

we would have been able to sign a contract with the Johnson Clan as well. If we could have achieved

that along with our collaboration with the Brone Group, the Perry Clan could have ascended to an elite

family this very year. And now, you have the gall to tell me you find your plight unacceptable?”

Like a bayonet, Henry’s words stabbed deep into Tracy’s heart.

‘So if Tracy gains the collaboration of the Johnson Clan, you can pass the seat of Chairman to her,

then?’

Standing beside Tracy, Baron studied Henry calmly, almost peaceably – but if Charles had been there

with them, he would have known that in this state, Baron was at his most terrifying.

“Who do you think you are? The likes of you, negotiating with me?”

Henry looked at Baron with derision and turned his gaze on Tracy. “Even if you secure collaboration

with a hundred Johnson Clans, the position of Chairman will never find its way to you.”

With that Parthian shot, the old man turned and left.

And so the tides turned once again, and the fair-weather friends flocked their way back to Phillip’s side.

“Come now, Tracy, did you really think you’d be received as some sort of hero just for bringing back

one measly contract?”

“Exactly. All you’ve done was make up for your own mistake.”

“Mr. Perry knows best after all – keeping the company out of the hands of this shameless woman.”

“Phillip is Mr. Perry’s rightful heir. Where exactly do you think you come in locking horns with him?”

The people who had been busy kissing up to Tracy but less than a minute ago all switched sides in an

instant.

Tracy was heartbroken with everything Henry had said, but on top of that, she’d lost the Samho Group

all over again. The injustice of it all weighed heavy on her chest. To regain control of the company,

she’d offered up her blood, sweat and tears for five arduous years. And this was her reward.

“From now on, Tracy, the Samho Group belongs to me. In the future, I’ll be taking over the Perry Clan

as well.”

Phillip gloated as he swaggered over, his gaze sweeping contemptuously over Baron before landing

once more on Tracy. “Were I you, I’d divorce this garbage. With him here, you’ll always be beneath

me.”

Moving suddenly, Baron began marching off, his footsteps long strides. Phillip sneered at the sight.

“What? You’d like to hit me, is that it? Go on, try it. Lay a single finger on me, and you can watch your

wife’s exile from the clan!”

The temperature of the corridor fell drastically as Baron turned an expressionless stare on Phillip. “You

can’t hide behind closed doors forever. Sooner or later, you reap what you sow.”

Phillip covered his sudden surge of apprehension with bluster. “What are you blathering about now,

trash? I swear, talking to garbage like you is an insult to my person.”

With that, he hurried off.

“Let’s go, Tracy.”

Looking at his devastated wife, Baron’s own heart ached.

“Why is it you again? Why did you come back? What on earth do I owe you for? You’ve dragged me

down to fail again and again and again! Do you even know how much the Samho Group means to

me?”

The resentment in Tracy’s eyes curdled into a hateful grudge as she glared at Baron. Then she

crumbled and wept out loud.

After a long while, Tracy’s emotions settled, and she stared at Baron, a complicated expression on her

face. Then she bit her lip and said - “Sorry.”

Baron never expected Tracy to apologize to him of all people. Taken aback, he shook his head lightly,

then asked solemnly, “Would you like to take the Samho Group back?”

“I built the company from the ground up. Watched it grow. Samho is my child, Baron; of course I want it

back. All those years. All I’ve done for the family. All the family’s done to me. I’d have left long ago if I’d

been content leaving things there.”

Tracy’s eyes were red. In them, there was no longer any hope for the Perry Clan.

“So long as you want it – forget the Perry Clan. I can give you the whole world on a platter if you’d only

ask for it,” Baron said, deathly serious.

The disappointment in Tracy’s bearing only intensified at those words. Her voice was frigid. “Do you

know the sort of person I hate the most?”

Before Baron could reply, she continued, “Liars. I don’t care if the man I love doesn’t turn out to be a

hero with the world in the palm of his hand. I care that he’s responsible. I care that he’s honorable. I

care that he’s honest.”

Leaving him with that statement, she staggered away.

Baron watched her receding back until it vanished from his view, then placed a phone call. “Three days.

Take the Samho Group in three days without paying a single dime in the process.”

“Yes, Mr. Chairman!”

…...

Samho Group, penthouse floor, Chairman’s office.

When Mr. Perry did things, he did them expediently. He’d announced Phillip’s ascension to Chairman in

the morning. By the afternoon, the official approval notice had already been passed down to all

departments.

Henry examined Phillip as he stood before him, satisfied. “Phillip, your Granddad’s giving you this seat

as a test of your ability before you take up the reins of the Perry Clan. Don’t waste this opportunity.”

The mere mention of taking over the clan sent shivers of pleasure down Phillip’s spine, but he kept it in

check as he put on a humbled front. “Don’t you worry, Granddad. I won’t let you down!”

Henry gave a slight nod, then remembered another figure and sighed. “Before you take up that

position, I’ll find a way to banish Tracy from the clan.”

Phillip scoffed. “Come now, Granddad, she’s just a used, abused and abandoned woman. What waves Belonging to NôvelDrama.Org.

could she make?”

“Don’t ever underestimate her. She started the Samho Group when she was in college, and you’re

doubting her capabilities? Keep this up, and you’ll find her waves deep enough to sink your ship.” An

expression of disappointment crossed Henry’s face.

Sensing his grandfather’s disappointment, Phillip hurried to concede. “Of course, Granddad. You know

best. I won’t take her lightly.”

At that moment, the office telephone rang.

Henry shot a meaningful look at Phillip. “You’re officially appointed as Chairman now. The duties of the

company are yours to deal with.”

Phillip raced over to the phone and answered it. After listening for a brief few sentences, his face

changed, and beads of sweat began to roll down his forehead.

The phone clicked as he hung up, and he collapsed into his chair.

“What’s happened?”

A sinking feeling dragged at the pits of Henry’s stomach.

Phillip had grown deathly pale. “That was from the Brone Group’s legal department. They’re backing

out of the collaboration.”

“What?”

The same disbelief now adorned Henry’s face as well.

“That’s not all. They’re saying we violated the contract, and we’re to pay a fortune in reparations,”

Phillip went on.

Even Henry could no longer keep up his strong front. As the blood drained from his face, he found

himself tottering.
