His Ex-wife Is An Heiress (Amara and Tobias)

Chapter 0081

After her encounter with Tobias, Amara had turned herself into a shut in. In a bid not to encounter him a second time, she only went to work, straight home and kept meetings with Gemini virtual. Things seemed fine that way, that is until a week later, Melanie barged into her place, demanding she take a break from her 'vanilla' lifestyle and come have lunch with her.

"I'm sorry Mel, I have things to do," She rejected and pointed at the pile of paper of the coffee table. "Company data to read through."

"That's can wait." Melanie matched towards her, seizing her shoulders before she had the chance to seat down in front of the coffee table. "Right now, we're going out to have lunch."This content © Nôv/elDr(a)m/a.Org.

A nice Idea, Amara couldn't deny, after all, she needed a break from work. But just the thought of running into Tobias, who coincidentally happens to be every and anywhere, had the idea souring in her mind.

"I've already eaten something Mel, and besides, I have a meeting to plan for. We can have lunch here at my place some other time. Oh, and Bethany can even join in."

Melanie frowned at this. She wasn't in opposed to the idea of Bethany joining them, but rather, she found the fact that Amara was trying so hard to remain at home, strange.

Was something wrong? Was someone after her? Or was she hiding from someone?

"Did something happen?" Her question had Amara stopping on the file she had been reading.

She looked up from where she now sat and stared at Melanie. "What?"

Melanie took a step forward and folded her arms. "Did something happen? That's the only reason why you'd refuse to come out for an entire week and be held up in here. So, spill it." Amara chuckled, but it sounded strained. "Nothing happened, Mel. I'm just..." The look on Tobias's face that day was suddenly flashing through her mind and she sighed. "Busy," She lied.

"Is that really it?"

Trust her, Amara didn't want to lie. She was a fan of lying, but when it came to Tobias's case being tallied in front of Melanie, she just couldn't do it.

So, she chose to tell half of the truth.

"Yes," Amara sighed, closed the file she had been reading and rose up. "But I promise, I'll make time for you." She patted Melanie's shoulder gently, offering her most sincere smile. The action had Melanie relenting.

"I'll hold you on that." She said and fished out her phone when it began ringing.

A glance at the screen had her sighing. "Well, there goes my lunch time. I have to return to the company, let's talk later."

Amara nodded and waved her

goodbye. Once Melanie had left, she

returned to the file she had been reading, a frown once gracing her lips when she heard the annoying ring of her cell phone.

The device was buried some place under documents and took her a little time to locate it.

Upon getting her hand on the phone, she saw the person calling was Lorenzo. His name alone was enough to get the frown off her face.

"Brother," She greeted happily. "How's everything going?"

"Everything is alright. How's the company over there?"

Amara thought of the Jasper incident, but knew better than to bring it up. She nodded. "Peachy. How's grandpa?"

"Old, nagging and always on my neck." Amara laughed. "That's aside, I need a little favor from you, Mara." "What is it?"

ё

"An auction is happening in London a little while from now, they're going to be auctioning the 'Empress heart' necklace, and your soon to be sister in law, wants that necklace

"Maria wants the Empress heart?"

"Yes. She wants it, but I have to attend a meeting with Grandfather on that day, so, I was wondering if you could attend the auction in my stead and send it over once you've purchased it."

"And when is the auction?"

"Friday. Is it too much of a hassle for you?"

Amara glanced at her schedule. The auction was a week away. She had more than enough time to wrap things up.

"Not a hassle at all, brother. I'll be sure to send it over."

"Thank you, Mara. I'll let in on an information as a reward."

Amara edged closer to the edge of her seat. "Listening."

"Your little suitor is in town."

"My suitor?"

"Yeah, grandfather's son's friend. Apparently he moved to London sometime last month, keep an eye out for him, alright."
