Chapter 3098
Tears welled in her eyes when Lucas said "Irene".
"Do you still remember her?" she asked.
"She was my servant, so, of course, I remember her. You sound like you knew her," Lucas said.
She nodded. "I've seen her before."
"That's it?"
She hesitated and added, "We spoke, too."
"You are kind of like her. She liked working, too."
Ivy burst out laughing.
"But apart from that you two are different," said Lucas. "I'm sure you come from a well-to-do family because you always smile. She was poor and didn't even have decent clothes. She didn't laugh as much as you do."
Upon hearing Lucas's words, Ivy felt a lump in her throat as she could not even remember how she used to laugh.
"She must be touched that you remember so much about her," Ivy replied.
"She's dead. Didn't you know?" Lucas said.
"Perhaps she's not dead; she might have just gone to another place," Ivy suggested.
"She is dead. You don't have to console me."
"If she were not dead, would you have hired her?" Ivy asked.
"She might not have wanted me to hire her. She was very intelligent. If she were alive, she would have had a bright future."
"I remember she had an ugly scar on her face. If she didn't have that scar, would you have liked her?"
Lucas was stunned by this question and stared into Ivy's eyes.
Ivy looked down, feeling embarrassed. "It's just a stupid question. You don't have to answer it if you don't want to."Property of Nô)(velDr(a)ma.Org.
"Why would you ask such a boring question? Lucas furrowed his brow.
Do you ha
"Do you have a grudge against her or against me? Is it amusing foryou to make fun of us?"
Realizing she had upset Lucas, Ivy quickly apologized, "I'm sorry. I didn't mean to make fun of you two. I won't ask such silly questions again." Lucas stood up. "I'm going to the hospital to see my mom. You can go back to wherever you came from. I don't want to see you again."
"Please don't send me away. I truly understand my mistake. I want to visit your mom at the hospital as well."
Lucas rubbed his temple with a troubled expression, "Do you know my mom?"
Ivy shook her head. "No, I don't."
"Then why do you want to visit her?" Lucas asked.
"I can get to know her if I pay her a visit, right? I heard she's seriously ill, so I want to pay her a visit. I won't speak out of line in front of your mom," Ivy said.
Lucas remained silent.
He had never encountered such an audacious woman before. Although some girls had pursued him in college, they did not persist when he turned them down. Ivy was the first person who would not take no for an answer.
Lucas strode away, and Ivy followed.
"Should I buy some fruits or flowers? Or both? What does your mom like? What kind of flowers does she prefer?" Ivy asked as they left the house.
Lucas walked to the entrance of the building, unlocked the car with the key, and got in.
Ivy did not hesitate and immediately got in after him.
Lucas glanced at her. "Are you really coming with me to the hospital?"
"Yes, I want to visit your mom," Ivy replied.
"What exactly are you trying to do here? Do I owe you something?" Lucas asked.
