Chapter 56 Planning Revenge
"No! No! It's not true! Benedict, you have to believe me!" Yelena had gone into a panic. Didn't Jonathan already agree to accuse Calista? Why did he suddenly turn on them? What was Sterling doing? Quincy was also stunned by this turn of events. Didn't her mother say that everything was already settled? Why didn't Jonathan follow their plan?
Wyatt was also taken by surprise. Yelena's behavior earlier made them all think that Jonathan would accuse Calista, but he didn't, and even said that Yelena was the one who instigated him.
Calista was also confused for a while, but after thinking about it a little longer, she understood what happened. There was only one person who could make Sterling concede defeat...
Sterling used one hand to slap Jonathan on the face, causing Jonathan to collapse onto the floor, and then Sterling carefully wiped his hand.
"Spit it out! Why didn't you follow my instructions?"
When he thought about how he got such a slap in the face after confidently telling Calista that she was going to jail, a murderous glint could be seen in his eyes.
Jonathan was slapped so hard that he spat blood out, and he laughed as he remained on the floor. "Why should I listen to you? You immediately tried to corner me from the beginning! Even if I listened to you, nothing good would happen to me!" He wiped the blood from his mouth.
"I suppose you don't know right? Before you came, someone else already came looking for me and said he has already put my wife and children somewhere safe, but my parents were captured by the mafia! He said that as long as I said the truth, he will help me save them. So why should I disregard someone who's trying to protect me and listen to someone who threatens me?!"
The moment Sterling heard his explanation, he knew who that someone was. He wanted to kick Jonathan in anger, but someone walked in and prevented him from doing so.
"Apologies sir, the Staffords have pressed charges against Jonathan, can I take him away now?"
Sterling had never been humiliated so badly in his entire life, so of course he wasn't going to let him take Jonathan away. He tried to punch the man who came in, but the man caught his fist.
"Mr. Wolford, if I were you, I wouldn't go against the Fairchilds. This is Horington, not Summerbank. And even if we were in Summerbank, even Harvey would not be so reckless towards Mr. Kallum. You have already crossed the line."
Sterling contorted his handsome face in anger, "And why does Kallum want to interfere?!"
The man stared at Sterling as if he was stupid, "Because Ms. Stafford is Mr. Kallum's fiancée!"
But didn't Kallum hate his fiancée very much?!
Sterling didn't get to say this, and watched as Kallum's men took Jonathan away.
He didn't want to bother about these two useless women, but he knew that if he didn't save Yelena and Quincy, they wouldn't be able to do anything by themselves. So Sterling had no choice but to coldly make a phone call. By the time she came out from the police station, it was already quite late at night.
But this didn't affect Calista's high spirits at all.
She had originally imagined that she would have a tough battle to fight, but everything was settled so easily! Benedict, on the other hand, continued quarreling with Yelena, and they stopped only because Quincy pretended to faint. When she thought about the look of hatred in Yelena's eyes before she left, Calista sighed. She had wanted to get back at Yelena and Quincy when Yelena had let down her guard. She didn't want to stay in the same house as her enemies. But because Sterling had suddenly interfered, if she didn't manage to get Yelena out of the house this time, it would be hard to deal with them.
Wyatt saw that Calista didn't go to the hospital with the rest of her family, so he ran over to offer her a lift somewhere.
He didn't know who to believe anymore. If Yelena was the mastermind, then was Quincy really innocent? He refused to think about this question, but regretted suspecting Calista.
But before he could get close to Calista, someone walked out from the shadows and pulled Calista into his embrace.
When he saw who it was, Wyatt stopped in his tracks. The person Calista wanted to see the most now was probably this person.
Kallum's sudden appearance gave Calista a shock.
He raised an eyebrow slightly. "Are you happy to see me? Aren't you really grateful to me? Do you want to offer yourself to me as repayment?"
Calista nearly rolled her eyes at him, but Kallum had indeed gotten her out of this sticky situation, so she quietly said, "Thanks for today."
"What are you thanking me for!"
looked
Kallum looked as if he couldn't care less, but there was a coldness in his eyes. "The Wolfords have always been a very hateful bunch of people, and I wouldn't bother myself with him it he didn't do anything to offend me. But since he actually stretched his arm so far out and tried to harm you, he's lucky I didn't chop off his hand!"
Calista felt touched for a moment, but just for a moment.
"He is very irritating indeed. Do you want to teach him a lesson he'll never forget?" asked Calista.
Kallum was walking side by side with her under the streetlights and his bodyguards were following behind them. When he heard what Calista said, he didn't shoot it down, and asked with some interest, "How?" Calista smiled calmly. "According to what I know, he's here for the land in Citraine."
She tried to recall all the details of what happened in her previous life, and slowly explained, "The Wolfords want to build a private estate of bungalows for the wealthy there, and the owner of the land is going to sell the land to the highest bidder. The Wolfords are bent on getting that piece of land, so what you need to do is to push up the price of that piece of land." Text © owned by NôvelDrama.Org.
Kallum didn't expect Calista to know anything about such things. He stroked his chin and said, "That piece of land is not bad, and I thought of buying it too. So you're saying I should happily let him have it?" Calista smiled as she threw a glance at him, "Not happily, but begrudgingly! There's a problem with that piece of land, and I can guarantee you that the Wolfords will never recoup the money they pour into it." "There's a problem?" Kallum narrowed his eyes at this. Various parties had already checked the land and hadn't found any issues with it, so why did Calista say there was a problem?
"On the surface there are no issues,
but before that piece of land was developed, it was a landfill! As the city developed, the landfill was buried deep underground and was made into a golf course so it doesn't look like there are problems. But the ground has gone through many years of decomposition and it is now completely contaminated. So once you try to pound the
foundation and build houses on it, there would be a terrible odor, and anyone living there will develop skin problems."
She wasn't simply shooting in the dark. The person who bought it in her previous life had suffered terrible losses, and the seller of the land had disappeared by the time problems surfaced. Kallum saw that she said all this with great confidence and decided to believe her words. "Ok, I'll help you then. I can't stand the Wolford family myself either, so it'll be not a bad idea to teach them a lesson."
Calista couldn't help but smile when she saw how easily Kallum agreed. Under the streetlights, her face was not as intense as in the daytime and looked much gentler. Kallum felt his heart move, and he gently touched her hair. "Did Sterling try to do anything to you today?
Calista nearly wanted to tell him all the awful things Sterling did to her, but suddenly she thought, since when was she so close to Kallum?
Calista looked up at Kallum's handsome face and felt some confusion in her heart. She really didn't want to be in a relationship right now, especially with Kallum. But why did she feel herself falling deeper and deeper for Kallum? She opened and then closed her mouth, but seeing that Kallum had helped her twice today, she decided to be a little gentler on him.
"If I said that actually I don't like you anymore, and what happened earlier today was just a misunderstanding, what would you do?"
