Chapter 64
Chapter 64
Angeline was at a loss for words.
She felt chills running down her spine when she heard what he said.
By the time she turned around, Evander’s car was already driving away.
Angeline stood still and watched his car disappear. She began to relax, and a warm smile appeared on her face.
It seems that Mr. Golding isn’t as heartless as he appears to be.
However, his final words certainly made her think.
Her last actions at the wedding were indeed embarrassing.
Angeline was deep in her thoughts as she took the elevator. Just as she was about to reach her house, she suddenly saw a dark figure standing outside her door.
For the past few days, she had been in prison and had not been paying any attention to things at home.
The man was acting suspiciously, and she did not have a good feeling about him.
Angeline gulped in fear and forced herself to be alert as she picked up the broom in the corner.
She tiptoed toward the man, raised the broom, and hit him hard on the head!
Bang! The broom landed accurately on its target.
The man groaned in pain.
With a menacing face, Angeline warned him angrily, “I’m warning you. Don’t move. I have already called the police.”
“Angeline, what are you? A tigress? You’re so strong!” the man responded in annoyance. He turned around, and it was somebody she knew.
“Jonathan?” Angeline called out his name in surprise.
She had not heard from him since they last met at the café. Ccontent © exclusive by Nô/vel(D)ra/ma.Org.
Jonathan was holding onto his head and frowning. It was obvious that his injury was quite serious.
Angeline eyed him warily. He must have been very detailed in his investigation in order to find out where I was staying.
“What are you doing here?” she asked.
“Is this how you treat your guest?”
Angeline ignored him, but she did not open her door either. Instead, she turned and wanted to leave.
“I can’t believe you’re walking away just like that. Don’t you want to know what happened to the Yiurk and Sorelle families?” Jonathan asked.
Angeline paused in her steps, and her grip on her bag tightened.
She was right.
Jonathan had come prepared.
Since she was someone of value to him, she doubted that he would hurt her.
With that thought in mind, Angeline returned to her house. He strode in after her as if it was his house and started to check out the furnishings.
Angeline had taken the medical kit from her bedroom and placed it on the coffee table.
After checking Jonathan’s wound, she found that there was no bleeding. It was just a little swollen.
She quickly took out the bottle of ointment and applied it to his wound.
“In the past, I used to sustain injuries during filming. This ointment is quite effective. It’s going to hurt, so endure it.”
Despite her warning, she still tried her best to control the amount of pressure she used to apply the ointment. Instead of feeling pain, Jonathan found the effect of the ointment to be quite cooling.
He leaned back on the couch and smiled. “Was the surprise at the wedding outrageous enough?”
That would be an understatement. It was so outrageous that someone nearly died!
Now that Jonathan had reminded her, Angeline realized that she had yet to recover from the excitement of the farce. She looked at Jonathan calmly and said, “You expected that to happen, didn’t you? You know all about the dirt I have on her, don’t you?”
Jonathan looked at her in approval. “This is why I like to converse with intelligent people. They never beat around the bush.”
Angeline gazed at him coldly and waited for what he would say next.
He stretched lazily before continuing, “Currently, Joseline is in the hospital. I heard that she nearly lost her baby. Wendy is arguing with Old Mr. Sorelle and insisting that the baby has nothing to do with the Yiurk family.”
What!
“Of course, Old Mr. Sorelle feels sorry for his precious granddaughter. To top it off, the share prices of Sorelle Group have dropped drastically, so he has no choice but to force his granddaughter onto the Yiurk family,” sneered Jonathan. “I heard it may become a lawsuit. It’s going to be fun to watch.”
Angeline’s fingers that were holding a cotton ball stopped midair when she heard that. An icy glint flashed across her eyes.
Since they were young, Wilfred had always loved the gentleness and kindness of Joseline. Now that news of her viciousness came to light, Angeline wondered if he had any regrets.
“What about you?” Angeline shot him a question.
“What?”
“Don’t play dumb. I’m asking about your plan for revenge. I may not know your reason for vengeance, but if I’m guessing correctly, your target is Hanson. Am I right?”
“So, what if it’s him?” Jonathan seemed to be in a good mood and said casually, “Do you still have any lingering love for him?”
“What has that got to do with you?” Angeline evaded his question and became wary again. “Mr. Green, although I agree to work with you, it’s better for us not to ask about each other’s personal affairs!”
Most importantly, she had no idea if Jonathan was a friend or a foe.
Therefore, she had to be cautious of her every move.
Jonathan got up from the couch and looked down at her. “That’s up to you, but never forget your goal. Don’t forget about your child whose life and death remain unknown.”
Angeline stiffened at the mention of her child.
It was definitely a warning and not a baseless one.
She looked up at Jonathan with animosity. “Is there any news about my child?”
“All I can tell you is that the child is still alive. If you want to know more, it will depend on your performance.” A wicked grin appeared on Jonathan’s face.
If one were to look closer, the coldness in his eyes was enough to make one tremble!
Once Jonathan left her house, Angeline stared at the medical kit in a daze. There were agitation and pain in her eyes.
My child… is still alive.
That knowledge would become her driving force for the days to come.
Over the next few days, Angeline focused all her energy on the shooting of the Starlight Jewelry advertisement. Her diligence and seriousness had earned her praises from everyone.
On the third day, the shooting was completed before schedule!
Gordon was very satisfied with the finished product, and he signaled to the crew.
Angeline had just finished her last scene and was walking down the stage in her fishtail dress when she saw Gordon holding a huge bouquet of roses. “Angeline, congratulations! Good job! You have worked so hard for the past few days.”
Angeline accepted the bouquet and bowed respectfully. “Thank you very much.”
“By the way, the film crew will be having a celebration party later on. If you have nothing on, join us.”
Since Angeline had nothing to do at home, she was about to agree when a bodyguard came running toward her. “Angie, someone is looking for you.”
Who could it be?
“Thank you.” With that, Angeline handed the flowers to her assistant before walking out of the film set whilst holding her dress.
All she saw were a few luxury cars. There was no one else around.
Angeline stood there and felt as if she had been pranked. A hint of irritation appeared on her face.
