Her Poison His cure: Behind The Mask

Chapter 37 Her Father death.

Suk was busy reading books in the pavilion in front of her chamber. She carefully flipped the book, page after page. She delicately tucked a strand of hair behind the rest. The wave of the gentle wind hit her body, flowing her hair in the air which she continued tugging behind her ear.

BANG!!.

A sudden pounding of a drum sounded from afar.

She panicked, her hand which was about flipping another page of her book stopped midway.

What was that?. Isn’t that the drum that announced a sorrowful occasion?.

She subconsciously placed a hand on her chest and looked at her maids who were also surprised by the sound.

That the drum that announced when one of the royal family died, but who died.

For some reason. She had been having a wild feeling since she woke up and to get her mind off the negative feeling, she had fled to the pavilion which she had abandoned for a long time. After taking interest in archery and swordsmanship she had stopped reading books which she liked before but that didn’t stop her interest in books.

The loud banging of the drum was joined by a sorrowful announcement from the eunuch spreading the news.

“His Majesty has left this world!” The voice of the eunuch boomed loudly.

What?. Her father is dead. How?.

She closed the book, clutching her hand which had been shaking after hearing the news and stood up weakly. She almost lost balance but Na ji hye was quick to steady her. She lunged forward dragging her feet all the way to the king chamber. She can feel the burning tears in her eyes with each step she takes and no matter what she does, whether it counts to three, taking a deep breath; she can’t settle.

Finally, she made it to the king’s palace . Right at the entrance of the king’s palace are the ministers kneeling on the floor mourning the death of their king. The eunuchs and maids also gathered together at the corner of the door crying heavily with their heads bowed.Material © of NôvelDrama.Org.

She stared at the door in silence wondering if she was hearing and seeing well or if all this was some kind of dream. None of the people at the entrance notice her presence yet; everyone is occupied with the grief that has struck them.

Suk feebly moved closer and one of the maids quickly recognized her. She bowed her head courteously and nudged the rest of the maids to pay their respect to her. They quickly bow their heads on seeing her. One of them opens the door for her.

The ministers haven’t noticed her still or they pretend not to see her.

She huffed and made her way into the room but her foot halted at the door. She looks at the scene in front of her. Her mother was sobbing heavily beside her husband’s corpse that was placed on the bed and her brother was standing close to her as he patted her back in an attempt to console her but it was like none of that was working; her cry kept increasing with each passing second.

Her head dropped low and she collapsed against the table next to the door. She breathed heavily and tried to calm herself down. Her eyes began to burn as a low groan escaped her mouth.

At the sound of the crash and groaned, her brother turned back to look at the intruder. His eyes are swollen from crying and there is a big bag underneath his eyes.

This can’t be happening. Her eyes disagree with what it seeing. Why will her father die? They both had an unfinished conversation they were supposed to complete. How could he die like that?.

She staggered to the bed with a stoic expression while looking at her father’s pale face. His lips weren’t the pulp pink they usually were when he was alive, instead they turned dry as if a sun had beaten a leaves wavering on the floor.

Why does this hurt so much? She is not supposed to feel hurt like this. Guess she can’t deny the blood that flows in her vein after all. Even though her father offends her, she still can’t believe her ear that he had died; she won’t see him again, Forever.

Why her; why is a bad thing happening to her. Is she the only person created for pain?. First it was Yeong ho’s death and now her father’s death. She wonders who the heavens are going to collect from her next. Maybe she was next; herself.

She dropped her head down and breathed deeply. Her eyes were still burning so she knew she was running out of time before her emotion got the best of her.

She looks at her mother beside her. Her hand is holding her husband’s cheek and her other hand is holding his palm. Her sob raked through her body and fell on her husband’s cold cheek.

Suk didn’t realize she was crying until he felt her cold and wet tears run down her cheek. Grief built inside her heart, it soon turned to physical pain. She rubs her chest hoping it would give her some relief but it doesn’t rather she feels her heart shattered into pieces.

Finally one of the ministers came in to get the burial preparation done. Prince Kang Sohyun dragged her mother away from the king’s body when she refused to let him go.

The minister moved closer and covered the king’s entire body with a white clothes.

The queen’s tears increased when she saw the cloth covering her husband’s face and she slipped down crying in an irresistible power.

The connection with her father which had been severed suddenly came back with a full force. The feeling is getting deeper into her by the second. It made her feel empty; so empty that she couldn’t feel herself anymore. She regrets not forgiving her father before his death.

Now she had to live with those regrets for the rest of her life.
