Healing The 81
Sihana’s POV

The news of me setting myself on fire spread like wildfire. Every hour of the day, guests trooped into the Alpha Castle to check on me. The visitors were so plenty and so solemn and glum that it felt as if someone in the castle died.
“Luna,” Tony called from outside the door as he knocked. “You have a guest.”
“Who is it?” I asked to hide my groan. A random woman and her daughters just left after spending an hour looking at me with sad eyes.
“It’s your friend Felicity” I flopped back into bed.
Felicity visited me twice now since this incident but at every point, I found a reason not to meet with her. Thankfully, with Cahir around, I didn’t need an excuse to send her away. He sent her away by himself but Cahir had gone to his office today.
Tomorrow, we would be leaving for the temple to see the high priestess. I persuaded him to go to the office to get some work done since he’d completely neglected his duties as the Alpha since I fell sick.
Alright. I’ll be right out,” I answered Tony.
I didn’t want to meet with Felicity. For some reason, everyone in the Alpha Castle believed she and I were friends. I knew more than anyone else that Felicity had a knack for deception so I wasn’t
surprised that the workers here loved her. They considered her my good friend although ver told them about our history.
I took my time in adjusting my dress so I would have less time to spend with Felicity. Cahir should be back soon anyway.
When I stepped out, her eyes narrowed and her mouth fell open. It was a reaction I’d become familiar with in the past two days. I’d lost my appetite and with it went what little weight I’d put on since I joined Alpha Blood. Also, I moved slower because my limbs gor heavier.
After the fire incident, I hadn’t had any major incident, but I still got random fevers, I levitate things with my mind that one I noticed after the food Cahir had been trying to force me to eat rose in the air and then splattered to the floor. I had telekinesis, something between teleportation and super speed, and once, I’d snapped my spoon into clean halves. None of these abilities was lasting. They came and they went after screwing up my day.
“You look awful,” I gave Felicity a false smile at her rude words.
“What are you doing here?” I asked, sliding into the seat opposite her.
The kitchen had prepared a host of delicious snacks as guests kept pouring in. I wrinkled my nose at the cake and pic. They looked sweet but emitted a nauseating scent that had my stomach turning.
Ah, I couldn’t wait to see the high priestess and I hoped on my life that she knew what was going on with me. Frustration ate at me and it poured off Cahir every time I manifested something new and unexpected. My mate had lost weight, he spoke less now and he was jittery, jumping at every sound, ready to rush to my aid if any of my new abilities threatened to hurt me.

“What exactly did you hear?” I asked in a dry tone. Somehow, the gossip and rumours that came out of this castle had been distorted to the point where a child had asked me how to breathe fire because that’s what they heard.
“You’re manifesting more abilities!” Felicity exclaimed with wide and excited eyes. “Can you show me Everyone has been talking about your fire abilities.” I give her a weird look as she bounced in her seat, Was she for real? Everyone was talking about how I almost fried myself!
“Did you get the full gist?” I asked as her eyes continued to sparkle.
“N – No?” She stuttered, a bit of her excitement dying “I–Ah, I’m not really close to anyone here so – um, I heard it by chance while I was taking a stroll. Is there more to the story?”
“I set myself on fire by mistake.” I blurted out. The excitement in her eyes died a quick death.
“W–What!?” She exclaimed with wide eyes.
“Yeah.” I shrugged. “What do you mean you aren’t close to anyone in this pack? What about Aristo?” Did he use her and dump her already? It wasn’t unlike the beta to do that but if so, why hadn’t she returned home?
“Ah, the beta-” She said in a subdued tone. “I don’t think he has any interest in me.” She shrugged but I could see the hurt reflecting in her eyes. “He’s pretty busy these days so that must be why.” She tried to cheer herself up but she wasn’t fooling me. Anyway, did I care? No. She had Rena killed so anything that happened to her was her business.
“Right,” I said without emotion.
Ah, sorry for being too enthusiastic when you had an accident. I only heard people were coming to see you as you manifested fire abilities. I didn’t think it was dangerous.” She bowed her head.
“Okay.” I wasn’t in the mood to talk and the snacks laid out before me were starting to smell worse.

“Is there – Is there anything I can do for you?”
Surprisingly, she was the only one to offer her service. Every other person that came here offered their condolence as they assessed me since it was my first time meeting most of them. Only Sam had offered me any help. He offered to buy me a fire extinguisher. His mother dragged him away with red cheeks.
“There’s nothing you can do,” I answered Felicity, tired all over again.
“Ah, in that case –” She trailed off. “I’ll try to find more information for you then.” She sat up straight. “Yes, it’s unusual for those kissed by the goddess to suddenly change abilities but I will try to find out what I can. She vowed.
If someone else approached me with as much sincerity as Felicity, I would have accepted their hand of friendship. I’d even be grateful, but this girl had shown me how two–faced she could be so the only thing I felt around her was suspicion. It didn’t matter if she was sincere or not. I learnt to be wary of her and her lessons were not easily forgotten.
“Oh, yes. I’ve also been researching what you asked me to.” She leaned forward as she whispered. “I read something, it was only a single paragraph but Hank and Gothel mention thar a healer can heal the mind. There was nothing else

Her words excited me. They may have overexcited me because at that moment when my eyes widened. and I took a deep breath to calm my racing heart, I ended up taking a big whiff of the snacks and beverage in front of me. My stomach lurched.
“I am” I saw Cahir enter the room as I dashed out of my seat, rushing to unload the content of my stomach in a toilet. My eyes stung with tears as I retched up the little food I’d managed to eat for breakfast.
“What’s wrong with me.” I was tired of being sick. The doctors had nothing to say and we couldn’t meet the priestess earlier than the date she told us to come.
“You’ll be fine,” Cahir whispered in a soothing voice, rubbing my back.
I cried myself to sleep that day, having difficulty keeping anything down. The next day, Aristo came to drive us to the temple.
I slept for more than half the journey, plagued by bizarre dreams and hunger pangs but I didn’t dare cat for fear of getting sick again and vomiting all over Cahir.
“Welcome, Alpha, Luna, Beta.” Two priestesses came out to greet us when we arrived at the holy temple. The air around the temple was calm and serene, rejuvenating even. I felt relaxed
immediately after we drove into the premises.
“The high priestess will see you now.” Cahir made to follow me into the inner chambers of the high priestess but they stopped him. “She requested to see the Luna alone.”
“What Cahir started with a growl but I placed a hand on his bicep.
–
“It’s okay.” He opened his mouth to protest but I shook my head. “I’ll tell you whatever she says. Please. I have to see her as soon as possible.” It wouldn’t do me any good if an argument broke out. I was desperate for answers and since he was too, he sighed and nodded. letting me go in alone.
“Hello, I called into the dark room as I entered. At least three incense burned in the place triggering my nausea but I held the vomit at bay. “Is anyone – A torch came on, startling me. Then light flooded the place.
“Sihana Asena!” A girl with flowing white hair and blue eyes grinned at me as if we were long–lost friends. “It’s so good to see you! Oh, you look just like your mother! Come, take a seat!” She patted the spot beside her.
“Are you – the high priestess?” I asked in a dubious voice. She looked like she should be in school.
“Yes, yes. Don’t let my appearance fool you. Ho, I am almost ninety but the goddess preserves me because I’m her favourite.” She winked at me as if sharing a joke. “Come and seat, aren’t you tired?” I took a seat and she sat beside me despite the many other seats in the room.
“Are you sure you’re the high priestess?” I couldn’t help but ask.
The environment of the temple was tranquil, and all the priestesses we met were also serene so I expected the high priestess to be the most sombre and serene of them all but she was like a teenager who had skipped school to get high on woll’s bane.
“Except I possessed the high priestess, which is impossible, ho ho, only the goddess can possess my body but anyway. How are you!?” She exclaimed, placing a hand on my stomach. I squirmed as she caressed my stomach.
“I Can you stop massaging my stomach?” I felt awkward.

“I can’t!” She exclaimed with a lively grin. “The bun is so powerful, I am amazed. Ho–ho, the goddess really took time creating your baby, Sia!”
