Falling for my Ex-Fiancee’s Best friend

New crush

While Demelza’s eyes were shut tight, she feared for her life but was already prepared for the worst that could happen.

While she stood there in his grip with her hers shut tight, it felt like time paused for a moment because all she could hear was kicks and punches and groaning.

She remained on the same spot until she trembled from a strong hand gripping her. “Please.” She begged again.

” Open your eyes.”

She felt calm immediately when she heard the familiar voice. She opens her eyes to confirm what she hears and she was delighted to see Adrian.

Without realizing it, she jumped on him, giving him a very tight hug. She felt so relieved to know that those men didn’t have their way like she had badly imagined they would.

“Ermmm, I need to breath.” Adrian stressed from her really tight hug.

“Oh, I’m sorry.” She said to him letting him go. She could feel her cheeks burning and she was damn sure that her face must be red already from feeling slightly embarrassed.

“I’m sorry, I just felt so relieved when I saw you.” She apologized to Adrian who was smiling.

“It’s okay, I understand and I am happy I happened to be passing by.” He responded.

She stood there smiling like one who had just seen her guardian angel, maybe he is her guardian angel.

“We need to leave this spot, it’s not ade at night. We stay here too long and we might both end up being robbed.” Adrian said to her.

Demelza felt spooked by that and started walking immediately. “Wait for me.” Adrian said out loud laughing at how childish she looked doing that in reflex.

Demelza slowed down realizing how fast she was walking at the time. She stood there watching him walk towards her smiling.

There was something about his smile that caught her attention but she wasn’t willing to let herself get distracted. She ignored the thought and decided not build anything with him.

“Shall we?” He asks her immediately he got to her.

“Sure.” She responded and theyvbithe started walking down the road.

He turned to look at her and he noticed she was having goosebumps on her arm ehichmde him move closer to her and place his jacket which he had earlier taken off on her shoulder.

She turned, smiled and thanked him for his nice gesture. “Where are you headed?” He asked her noticing that she had not said anything about stopping or taking a cab since they’ve been working.

“Errr…” she responded sounding really confused.

” Okay?” He asked her waiting for her to arrange her words.NôvelDrama.Org © content.

“That the thing, where am I headed?” She asked rhetorically because she had no idea.

” I’m sorry, I didn’t mean to throw you off balance with my question. But, we have been walking fornabwhike now and you haven’t said anything about stopping, turning or even taking a cab and it is getting really late already.” Adrian explained to her with concern upon noticing that she looked confused with his question.

She looked around for a while with hopes of finding a hotel or something but she just made herself look more stupid and confused which she hated.

“It is alright okay, if you need a place tincrashfor the night, you can come over_” Demelza cutbim short with the look on her face.

“No no no, if you do not feel comfortable about that, we can just find you a place to crash. You do not look like one ready to go home.” He pointed out.

“Yeah, I know. I look like shit right now.” She lamented dropping her head to the ground.

“Well, exactly like shit but… ” he stressed.

” But what?” She said him hitting him on the left arm.

” Ouch.” He let out softly from her tender hit. ” Fine, you most definitely look like shit.” He said and bursted out laughing almost immediately.

“You’re mean.” She told him and pouted.

“I agree” he concurred with a broad smile. “But, you won’t find a decent hotel around by this time okay. Come crash at my place then you sort yourself out in the morning.” He suggested to her.

She paused for a bit thinking about it and she eventually agreed to crash at his place because she was not willing to drop her pride for her parents. “At least not today.” She muttered to herself inaudibly.

“What’s that?” He stressed trying to pick what she said.

“Nah, I was talking to myself.” She said to him and his face dropped because he felt bad that she would be talking to herself when he is there.

“Hold on, we are safe now. We’ll get a cab here, very soon.”

“okay. ” She responded.

While they stood standing and waiting, held her close and rubbed her arm to help her feel warm. Demelza enjoyed the feeling of being cared for at the moment because a while back, allnshebfelt was anger and fear but for now it felt like those feelings are floating.

They soon got a cab after a while of standing and they both got in. They actually didn’t have any conversation as Adrian did not stess because he wanted her to feel very safe at the moment and being too chatty might not help.

Demelza noticed it was taking a while for them to get tonhisnoalce and she couldn’t help but feel uneasy about it. She began looking out the window to check if the route thwyvare taking is a familiar one.

“Calm down. I’m not stealing you. My house is not so close but we’ll be there soon. I can see you’re shaky.” Adrian pointed out.

“Yeah, I couldn’t hold it in. My body language betrayed me.” Demelza responded with a little chuckle.

“It’s totally fine. I understand you for real but I’m not going to hurt you.” He said trying to calm her down.

After saying that, the car finally came toma halt and Demelza unconsciously breath a sigh of relief.

Adrian let out a Little laughter and payed the cab driver before they alighted. Immediately they got out of the car, Demelza was wowed upon seeing where he stays.

She could easily guess he was was financially stable but rich? Wasn’t even close to her guesses.

“I know right. Can we go in now?” He asked her noticing the awe on her facial expression.
