Heart break
Demelza could feel her heart shattering into pieces. “How could Nathan do this to me?” she asked her parents in tears.
“Calm down, Demelza, you’ll be fine okay.” Her dad said to her trying to console her.
Harriet pulled her into a warm hug patting her on the back. She tried comforting the best way she could. She was just regaining consciousness, crying wasn’t the best thing for her at this time.
She soon calmed down and slowly fell asleep leaving her parents to watch her with pity. She was obviously In Love with Nathan but they couldn’t understand why she would put herself through this knowing it would not work.
“She’ll be fine.” Thorpes told Harriet.
“I know she will be, we just have to be by her side through it all.” Harriet responded with her eyes fixed on Demelza.
TWO DAYS LATER
The doctor stood as he checked Demelza’s vitals and he was quite impressed with what he got. After doing that, he took his time to observe her test results and she had really improved; almost as good as new.
“She will be discharged now, you can all finally go home and rest.” The doctor said to Thorpes.
“Really?” Demelza’s dad asked excitedly.
“Yes, she is as good as new. She just needs proper rest and shouldn’t do anything stressful yet.” The doctor instructed.
“That wouldn’t be a problem doc” Harriet responded happily about the news. They are all tired of being at the hospital and they could use a proper rest too.
“Thank you so much doc, I’ll settle the bills now while you do what you’ll have to do. ” Thorpes said to the doctor.
“Oh! That wouldn’t be necessary, it has been settled already. The food, the drugs, everything has been paid for.” The doctor informed them.
“Huh, by who? ” Thorpes asked, surprised.
“Nathan Storm.” The doctor answered.
“Oh! Wow!!!” Demelza exclaimed feeling very surprised. She felt annoyed with the fact that he didn’t come to see her but acted like a nice man paid her bills.
The doctor turned to Demelza with a curious look trying to understand what Demelza’s expression was but he felt lost.
Being none of his business, he extended his hand for a handshake and excused himself to his office right after the handshake with Thorpes.
Thorpes felt very relieved that the bills had been settled but he wasn’t so sure Demelza felt the same way too.
After about thirty minutes, everything was settled and they packed up their stuff and came out of the hospital room. They walked out slowly and cautiously so that they would not exhaust Demelza. She was still recovering.
When they got outside the hospital premises, they stood waiting for the next available tax board. In less than five minutes, they got one and told him there. It was a quiet drive home but a relieving one.
“Home sweet home.” Harriet expressed happily.
They all walked inside the house and tried to settle in and they couldn’t help but notice Demelza numb aura.
They knew the reason and decided to not be nosy. It was very natural for her to feel that way and they hoped she wouldn’t sulk for long.
“I’ll head to my room now.” She said to them and turned away without waiting for her response.
Thorpes tried calling Demelza back but Harriet stopped him. “Give her space, she needs to process everything that happened. She’ll be fine.” Harriet assured him.
“If you say so.” He responded and sat on the couch to relax a bit and the exhaustion he felt.
Demelza kept pacing in her room, annoyed by everything and the Little body pain she felt.
She resolved to sit on her window to enjoy the fresh air as she gathered her thoughts .
She sat there for a while and hissed like a thousand times from feeling so sad. She could help but reminisce on the past. Every second she spent with Nathan made the whole thing harder for her to get over.
From impulse, she got up from the window and rushed out of her room. She ran downstairs like one about to miss an appointment.
Her dad and mum both turned in curiosity immediately they heard her footsteps running down.
“Slow down baby girl.” Her dad tried to stop her from running but she ignored him.
“I’ll be right back.” She said out loud without stopping.
Harriet and Thorpes both looked at each other confused as they both wondered where she was off to in such a rush.
They both shrugged their shoulders and sat down and waited for her to return and give an explanation.
Demelza stopped a taxi immediately she got out, and gave him the location of Nathan penthouse. At that moment, she was acting on impulse and her major concern was get to him and explain the flashdrive incident and also ask him why he never came to see her
She couldn’t bear the thought of not seeing him anymore. As she got closer to his penthouse, she could feel her heart pounding.
Immediately she arrived, she hurriedly gave the cab man money and rushed out without waiting for her change. She crossed the road carelessly forgetting her last ordeal all in the name of love.
She soon got to the elevator and got in as fast as she could. All she wanted was to see Nathan, it felt like her world was crumbling and he was the only one to make it whole.
Immediately she arrived at the top floor and the elevator dinged and opened. She rushed out and made her way to Nathan’s door. She paused a bit realizing who sweaty she looked. When she calmed down, she pressed on the door bell and waited for a response.
While waiting, she adjusted her hair which was in a messy bun. She pressed on the doorbell again when she didn’t get a response from the first one.
The door finally opened but she was disappointed to see that it wasn’t Nathan who opened up, it was a young lady.
At first she felt a sting of jealousy from feeling he had been replaced but then she held herself together and greeted the lady.
“Who’s there hunnie?” She heard a male voice call out from inside but the voice wasn’t Nathan’s voice.
The man came out and she introduced herself and why she was there.Property belongs to Nôvel(D)r/ama.Org.
“Oh, we’re really sorry but Storm already moved out.” The man explained to her
“Where did he move to?” Demelza asked desperately almost in tears
The couple looked at each other feeling sorry for her. “No love, we don’t. He sold the house to us.” The man told her again.
Demelza instantly fell to the floor upon hearing that.
