She was average tall, her long legs and perfect hair were her most treasures but aside from all these she found favor in the eyes of many at the clubhouse, but only a few she gave attention to but I was never among, now was his chance,
“How long are you going to keep this secret, even though you know it’s impossible to tell your boss,
“I could tell my boss instead, so I think you should back off from my business, ” and walked out, she didn’t want to oblige but when Sydney thought of her secret she had no choice but to oblige. She stopped after thinking it twice,
“Ok fine. And it’s just one night” he said through gritted teeth,
“Fine. Just one night and my lips are sealed forever” he smirked,
“I hope so,” she thought deeply, if the killing wasn’t a crime, this man would have been long dead.
He gave her, his room number,
“Room 209, I want to see you tonight and that’s that.” She walked in out, taking his card with him.
Paxton was already worried, what was she doing in there for that long,
“Did Godfrey get to her?” He wondered, “it won’t hurt a bit to check up on her, right?” He asked himself, just then she walked out with a sore expression,
“What kept you indoors for that long? We would be late to the office,” she wasn’t in for his scolding, she simply apologized,
“Sorry, Sir. ” He froze on the spot, she was humbled this time, to apologize to him,
“Fine, get in. And let’s get going” dodged her eyes,
Sydney got deep in thought all through the journey back to the office.
She threw her face out the window, and continuously tapped her lags, for the two months he had been with her, she always do that when she was nervous or Panicking,
“What could she be possibly all worked up about that she’s unsettled?” He asked himself but got no answer.
He didn’t want to ask again since she withheld the information away from him in the first place, may e a personal matter that he shouldn’t know about.
The drive into the office came to a halt she, got down and walked straight into her office, sat down, and then rubs her head, frustrated,
“Hi, Sydney.” She looked up it was Miss Dana, her eyes widened,
“What are you doing here, I thought Paxton said you weren’t around?” She smiled,
“Yeah I wasn’t, I had an emergency to attend to, to my kid but it’s all settled now, have these files, you can take them home if you want to revise, Boss’s order, I’ll talk to you later ok?
“Sure. I’ll do it.” She wore a wry smile, then closed her eyes as soon as Miss Dana left, Soon the door opened, and she yelledPlease check at N/ôvel(D)rama.Org.
“Miss Dana tell Paxton I’ll have it delivered by tomorrow, am exhausted,” she whined,
“Miss Dana? Are you on a rough patch with Paxton, again? Thought you two were going on along well?” Her eyes bolt open,
“Jaxton?” The usual glow when she called his name was not there anymore, he knew instantly something was up, Sydney was terrible at hiding her true emotions, just one look, and one can guess if she was having a bad day or not.
“What’s wrong? You don’t seem fine at all?” Worried he asked,
“Can I be alone, for now?” Her weak voice sold her off, it was enough to convince him, she was not ok.
“Sydney? ” He called, ” did anyone tell anything? Was it Paxton again?” It must be Paxton, he’s the only one who can put you in this mood” he concluded, she turned her gaze to him.
“It wasn’t?”
“If it wasn’t him then who?” He persuaded.
“It’s no big deal, I’ll handle it” she replied, he picked up his cell phone,
“Am calling Paxton to inquire right now.” Her eyes widened, won’t he stop, not as he cared anyways?
“Stop!!” She held his hand, ” you’ll not stop, right?
“Nope, ” he grabbed a sit close by,
“So tell me, what’s the problem?
“I met Godfrey.” She stated,
“Godfrey? The same Godfrey?” She nodded in agreement.
“What the…? He tried to blackmail you, didn’t he?” Tears filled her eyes, nodded.
Jaxton clenched his fist and jaw,
“Don’t worry about it, I’ll go with you” he spoke calmly, she sniffed looking at him,
“Jaxton” she cried, Into his arms, Patting her head, he calmed her down,
Sydney and Jaxton went to the hotel together.
“Are you ready?” He turned to her, Sydney still feel a bit scared,
“I don’t know, but I think I’m doing fine”
You just have to be calm and follow my lead, I have a good plan.” He assured her, and she instantly felt safe around him. They got to the room and Sydney knocked on the door opened.
The man was surprised to see Jaxton. He turned his gaze to Sydney,
“What’s he doing here?” His happy face turned sore instantly, these two did not come here on a good note.
“Are you scared, I wanted to see how you wanted to blackmail a young girl old enough to be your daughter into sleeping with you” he cornered him,
“What? He agreed to it and besides, who are you to stop me? It is not like you’re of any use to your brother why to put your nose to a business that has nothing to do with you?” The look on Sydney’s face held fear but Jaxton was not backing out either, he kicked the door open and walked in with his grip around her wrist, and they both got in before he could stop them.
“You’re sly” he points at Sydney, and she smirked.
“You think I’ll come here with no protector or so? You’re so naive, aren’t you? She smiled wickedly,
“What a bitch! I hate him so much!! How did you even end up with a weakling like him” Godfrey mumbled.
