EPISODE 61 Give him a chance
Meagan couldn’t help but wonder if it was a coincidence that her best friend was calling the same day the alpha had texted that he wasn’t going to give up on her. And then she concluded that she would answer the call to avoid Hazel’s wrath.
“Hello, Meagan.” Hazel spoke up first.
“Hey Hazel, how are you?” Meagan asked in a low tone.
“I am good. And what’s up with you?” Hazel said lightly.
“I am just here. I came in from work not too long, tried to take a nap but your call came in.” Meagan replied.
“I guess.. I called at the wrong time.” Hazel mumbled.
“No, it’s alright. I am free at the moment.” Meagan pulled off her sandal.
“Okay. So is everything okay over there? I mean.. with you?” Hazel turned on the phone speaker on the alpha’s order.
“Oh yes.. everything is fine.” Meagan’s response was sharp and immediate.
There was silence on the other side as Hazel thought of the right words to use to bring up the conversation.
“Meagan, we agreed to not keep secrets and to always tell each other the truth right?” Hazel started off.
Meagan’s heart beat accelerated as she hummed a response.
“Do you have anything to say to me? I just.. I just.. have a feeling that you are hiding something from me.” Hazel picked her words carefully.
Meagan’s small smile faded off. Her mind told her that her best friend’s call wasn’t coincidental but intentional. It wasn’t a feeling but Hazel must have heard something. What if the alpha had spilled everything they did together to Hazel and Julius? She mused.
Meagan was caught between telling the truth or deny whatever claim her best friend might want to bring up.
“The alpha-” Hazel paused as she stole a glance at the alpha.
Meagan heart skipped beat. Hazel probably knows the truth. “I don’t need to beat the around the bush. Why didn’t you tell me about it?” Hazel asked as she waited for a response.
Meagan chose to admit the truth. “I have no idea there was a connection between you two until few days ago. You shouldn’t have hid it from me.” Hazel expressed how hurt she had been to find out the truth from the alpha and not from her trusted friend.
“I am sorry… Hazel.” Meagan apologized.
“Should I forgive you?” Hazel asked.
“Listen Hazel, I’ll tell you everything. Carl and I met at the Halloween party. That night you were looking for me, I was with him. At first I didn’t know he is the same alpha we talked about. I didn’t know he is the man Brianna likes so much. You didn’t say his name to me so it was hard to tell that they could be the same man. We had something together but I tried to keep my distance when-” her voice trailed off as a tear slipped down her cheek.
“You found out that the warlord is the same alpha you didn’t want to meet and you tried to keep your distance. I know everything now. But I am pissed because you hid such from me.” Hazel said as he looked away from the alpha.
“I am sorry.” Meagan apologized.
“Why are you apologizing?” Hazel asked.
Meagan sniffled. “I didn’t tell you because.. I was scared of what you would think of me. You know.. getting involved with a man I barely know and I just met.”
“Are you having regrets that you slept with my alpha?” Hazel questioned.
Alpha Carl moved closer to hear her response. “No.. I don’t have regrets. But I.. I am just embarrassed about it. What would people say if they found out that I slept with the alpha in the space of two days?” More tears streamed down her cheeks.
Hazel sighed which was clear through the phone. “Look Meagan, you don’t owe anyone an explanation. You had a good time with my alpha so what? It is nobody’s business.”
“It was a fling. I-”
Hazel cut her off. “I understand you. But Meagan, you shouldn’t let it stop you from embracing what you feel for the alpha. You met a great guy and had fun with him. It is no one’s business. Moreover no one will know it is just a fling except you spill it out.” She said in a calm tone.
Alpha Carl Damien was trying to be hopeful. At least Meagan doesn’t have regrets spending time with him.
“Forgive me, Hazel.” Meagan said gently as she wiped her tears.
“I won’t forgive you because you have been ignoring my alpha’s text messages. Come on Meagan, it is only polite to reply text messages.” Hazel scolded her best friend.
“I am scared.” Meagan said after some seconds of silence. “We only agreed to a secret affair but I think the alpha wants something more.” Her voice quivered.
Hazel wasn’t quite sure of what to say to her best friend. “She should give me a chance.” Alpha Carl Damien mouthed.
“Why.. why don’t you try to give him a chance? I mean.. you can set up a meeting with him. And-”
Meagan interrupted her. “No, I don’t want to meet him.”
“Why?” Hazel exchanged glanced with the alpha. A sad look crossed his features.
“Alpha Carl is a great and good guy. Even if we decided to have a relationship it won’t work out.” Meagan stated as she tried to blink back more tears.
“This isn’t about what happened with Max right?” Hazel asked.
“It has nothing to do with Max.” Meagan answered.
“So what?” Hazel demanded.
“He is an alpha and I am just a mere human. If we go into a relationship, we will both get stuck in it because of our crazy schedules at works.” Meagan explained.
“I know it won’t be easy dating the alpha but if you want things to work out between you two then you have to accept each other’s commitment which involves your own job and him running the pack and you can support each other.” Hazel retorted.
“Look Hazel, I don’t want a long distance relationship. I don’t want to be with the alpha. I am not ready to give up my life to be with him in a pack. I have a lot of plans for the future and it doesn’t involve being a Luna of a werewolf pack. I appreciate you for looking out for me and I am sorry for hiding secrets from you even when we promised to be honest with each other.” Meagan admitted hoping her friend would not take offense in her words.
Alpha Carl Damien closed his eyes as he listened to her words. Meagan has just rejected him in the most polite way.
There was no reason for Hazel to argue or persuade her best friend because she sounded so resigned in her words. Meagan doesn’t want the alpha and it is final.
Alpha Carl was tempted to take the phone from Hazel and convince Meagan but he kicked against such impulse.
“I am sorry, Hazel.” She apologized again.
“It’s alright. I understand you. I’ll respect your decision but try to text the alpha back.” Hazel ended the call with a promise to call her some other time.
“You heard everything she said right?” Hazel mumbled.
“I don’t accept the rejection.” Alpha Carl replied.
“I can tell that Meagan also feels something for you but she doesn’t want to admit it. And I still feel this her refusal is way beyond just crazy schedules.” Hazel breathed out heavily.
“I wish I know what’s going on in her mind. I can’t let her go even if I choose to respect her decision.” He replied. This is property © NôvelDrama.Org.
Alpha Carl Damien’s phone beeped. A message from Meagan.
“Hello, Alpha Carl. I am sorry for not replying your text messages. I have been quite busy with work at the hospital. I find it uncomfortable to get a message from you and the fact that you told my best friend about our secret affair. I am not saying that you did wrong but I would have appreciated it if I was the one who informed her about it. We agreed to a secret adventure so let it remain that way. In the history of the wolves, Allison didn’t make an attempt to have an happily ever after with the warlord so we shouldn’t try to change history. I am sorry to say this to you but I don’t want something more with you. And I hope you find someone who would love you the way you desire.” Alpha Carl read out the message.
Hazel leaned back on the couch. “What do we do? She doesn’t want you. So I think we should respect her decision.” She sighed.
A deep frown formed on the alpha’s face. “No, I can’t fail again at a chance to find a mate. I have chosen Meagan because she is the one my wolf wants to be with. I don’t want anyone else.” He blurted out.
“But she doesn’t-”
“She is mine! She’ll be my Luna! She’ll bear my pups! And no is not an option.” Alpha Carl gritted as he stormed off to the bedroom. He was determined.
Meagan would have to accept his proposal to be his mate. The alpha paced the room as he thought of a better way to convince Meagan that things could work out even in their different worlds.
The alpha knew he has a long way to go just to convince Meagan that there could be a good chance for them to be together in a relationship.
