Alpha Knight’s Cursed Mate

96

NIRVANA

Tension suddenly rose in the vineyards. I could smell everyone’s fear and anxiousness in the air as they started to arrive to help us defend our territory, but anyone could also turn and betray us.

I looked at at least nine unfamiliar heads. I did not doubt Califf’s enforcers, Zack, Lyon, and Tor, but these guys remained strangers to me.

“Thank you all for coming. I’m sure she needs no introduction. She’s very popular these days. This is my mate, Nirvana.”

“We’re here to help, Alpha Knight, Luna Nirvana,” the guy in his mid-twenties said. If I remember right, his name was Ben from Crimson Heart, Alpha Ryden’s pack.

“I don’t know how long it would take, but you can always leave. I will divide your assignments, and I’ll be checking every now and then.” Knight looked down at the map of his property. “I will take care of the northeast. It’s near my house.”

“Is this a cliff?” Ben pointed at the map on the southeast.

“Yes. That’s the end of my land. Outside of that is the valley. I suggest you all not try getting out of my property. Once you’re out, you can’t enter unless you come through the two main gates from the pack house and the vineyards,” he explained.

“Got it. Liam, John, and I will take the southeast,” Ben volunteered.

“We’ll take the South,” said Zack. “Lyon and Tor will be with me. We can work effectively if we are together.”

“Of course. James, Ricky, and Lara, you are all assigned to the west side. If anyone tries to enter, you know the drill, if they won’t tell their purpose.” Alpha Grady sent them and promised to send more when needed.

“One thing you guys should know. Our territory is protected by walls and barbwire. There are cameras and a security system. Also, there are traps just outside the vineyards. So be careful.” I looked at everyone. They listened attentively, except for Ben, who seemed full of himself.

“Thanks for the heads up,” James said.

Luka joined us. “Beta Kaleb, Maddox, the twins, and I will cover the rest. Fabian and Azrel are assigned at the gate.”

“Good idea. Food and drinks are at the tasting room. There are wines if you can tolerate alcohol. My pack put food, drinks, and camping chairs in each vehicle. If you need anything, contact me,” Knight said dismissively.

“Please be careful, guys. I owe you one.”

Once they went to the vehicles, I grabbed Knight’s hand. “Are these the right decisions? Putting them in danger? I don’t know what to feel if someone gets hurt.”

“I know, but we can’t fight those werewolves alone. I have a bad feeling that more are coming our way.”

“Yeah, me too. Are you sure you can trust these guys and won’t betray us?”

“No, but I trust their alphas. Califf’s guys, I know them. I can trust them with my life. And I know I can trust them with you.”

“You better ask their alphas for their pictures. Just in case, someone gets to their enforcers first.”

“Good idea.” Knight stared at me for a moment before he picked up his phone and sent a message to their group chat. “Let’s go.”

Kailin was waiting for us at Knight’s bike. “You guys, take care. Let me know if you need us.”Please check at N/ôvel(D)rama.Org.

“You, too.” I hugged her tight.

“You, too, cuz.”

“Stay alert, and look after those guys in the bunker.”

“No problem.”

Knight and I headed to the house when his phone buzzed. “Check my phone, sweetheart.”

I grabbed it from his jacket pocket, but it needed his face. “You should wear a helmet, big guy.”

“We’re going home anyway.”

After his phone was unlocked, the alphas had already sent the photos of their members.

“I received the photos.”

“Check if they are the same persons we met.” We were halfway to the house when he stopped his bike and parked at the side of the road.

“Wait.” I checked the image from Ryden. “Baby, we should go back. Alert the guys. “Ryden’s men are not who they are.”

“Fuck!” He made a swift turn and sped up back to the pack house. I could feel his body tensing, and he was driving like crazy, not wearing a helmet but his sunglasses. “Let me link them.”

I dialed Kailin, and she picked up right away. “Why are you calling me?”

“That smug son of a bitch, Ben, is not who he is. Tell everyone not to engage but be careful. We’re on our way back.”

“Put the phone down.” I just heard Ben order Kailin, and the call hung up.

“Shit! No.” My body shook. My ears rang with anger.

“What’s wrong?”

“I was right. Ben just took Kailin hostage.”

“What? Are you sure?”

“Yes.” I began to cry.

“Fuck! He will pay for this.” Knight gritted his teeth and sped up more.

“If something happens to Kailin, I will never forgive myself.”

“I’m sorry, sweetheart, but I can’t drive slow.”

“Then don’t!” The moment I gave him a go, I felt like I was flying, and I could feel the tiredness barely touching the asphalt.

I wrapped my arms around his body tightly. If we got into an accident, I might never have survived if I hadn’t healed fast. But lives were at stake, and we needed to be there on time.

“I will fucking kill them.”

“I’m not gonna stop you.”

“I’m glad you doubted that dick. He’s smug and egotistic.”

In less than five minutes, we’re back. McKaye ran in our direction. The bike stopped in front of him, and I almost flew forward. I got down even if my knees were still shaking.

I breathed deeply before I faced McKaye. His nose was flaring. His wolf could have taken him over if he hadn’t the strongest self-control.

“The alarm just went off from-”

“Southeast.”

McKaye looked at me. “How do you know?”

“Hence, he asked about the cliff. There are more coming from that area. The cliff is accessible from someone like you guys.”

“I will fucking kill those sons of bitches. I already told Dad to prepare the detonator, but he knows we have a bunker. How? I have no idea. And he’s taken my sister down.”

“What does he want? Don’t answer me.” He growled, rage stirring up inside him. I could feel it.

Knight and McKaye, when angry together, could kill anyone by just their look. They frightened me.

“He’s asking for Vana.”

“Just the three came into my territory and want to take my mate? Are they fucking insane?” Knight’s eyes flashed with fury. His scent was mixed with anger, screaming chaos, and revenge.

When McKaye gave us this look, I felt we would not like it.

“What is it, Mac?” Knight asked impatiently.

“They have bombs.”

I gaped in shock and horror. “How were they able to bring it in without detection?”

“Not just any bomb.” Now, he looked worried. We had at least fifteen people in the bunker, and he just took the bomb down.

“What kind of bomb?”

“It’s a gas.” He showed us the live feed from his phone. “Hence, it’s nearly undetectable.

“Give me your alpha, or I will turn this bunker into a blood bath,” Ben, that son of a bitch, just talked to the walkie-talkie.

Knight grabbed it from McKaye and growled. “What do you want?”

I braced myself for his answer even if I were aware it was me who he wanted.

“You know what I want.”

“I will double the prize. You can leave this place unharmed with one million dollars in cash.”

I blinked at Knight with my stomach coiling.

“I don’t want your money, Alpha. No offense. I want your mate. If I don’t see her down in five minutes, I will shoot them one by one, including this beautiful, unmated lady with me,” Ben said confidently, and I could see his smug face smirking.

Outraged, Knight and McKaye growled together. And I felt like my body just turned a hundred and eighty degrees hotter.

“How do you expect to get out of here alive, Ben, if that’s even your name?”

“That’s not your problem anymore. And I know you will do as I say, Alpha. What would you choose? These people here, or your mate? I bet your mate.”

I grabbed the walkie from Knight, making him angrier. His eyes filled with fury. “Don’t hurt them. I’m coming down.”
