A Lifetime With You Chapter 6
Chapter 6
Opening the car door with one hand, Damien threw Ava into the car without bothering to be gentle at all. As he slammed the car door shut, he said coldly, “Fasten your seat belt!” Ava immediately hummed in acknowledgment. She didn’t retort, which was rare, and fastened her seat belt obediently Damien started the car, and the atmosphere in the car was extremely strange.
Ava stared at the scenery outside the window, and there were complicated emotions in her heart.
This was the first time that she and Damien had spent time together without quarrelling. However, the atmosphere was so quiet that it made her uncomfortable all over. After having an internal struggle throughout the journey, Ava finally mustered up the courage to break the silence. Copyright Nôv/el/Dra/ma.Org.
“Where are we going?”
Damien stared at the road ahead, focused on driving. He didn’t answer her question immediately. Ava was a little frustrated. She bit her lower lip and was about to ask him just to bring her home when he suddenly stopped the car. He then said coldly, “Get out of the car.”
Ava didn’t say a word. She opened the door and got out of the car. 22 Her ankle still hurt, and she limped all the way. After taking a few steps forward, she realized that Damien’s car didn’t drive past her at all. She turned and saw that his car was still where it was just now.
Why wasn’t he leaving?
Was he staying there to laugh at her limping? There was a surge of anger in Ava’s chest. She quickened her pace and took a few more steps forward when she realized with a start that there was a hospital by the roadside.
Damien had parked the car at the entrance of the hospital and told her to get out. Moreover, he didn’t leave. Was he… Was he telling her to seek treatment for her ankle injury while he waited for her outside? Was that it? Could she be mistaken? Ava was surprised and doubtful at the same time. This man had always been a bästard. Why would he suddenly treat her so nicely? Could it be that she was thinking too highly of herself? Ava walked hesitantly into the hospital. Whatever it was, if Damien were still outside the hospital after she was done seeking treatment for her ankle, she would enter the car without hesitation She registered herself at the counter. After she got her receipt, she walked towards the elevator.
The hospital had always been crowded, and there were a lot of patients outside the elevator. Ava looked around and realized that her nemesis was also there.
Beth!
Beth happened to turn too, and the two of them met eyes. Ava coldly looked away. “Hey, Ava!” Beth exclaimed dramatically and walked over to Ava. “Why are you here too? Are you
sick?” Ava decided to ignore Beth. She didn’t want to argue with Beth in the hospital as there were many people around. Beth, though, didn’t care at all. She caressed her lower abdomen and said, “I’m here for a prenatal checkup.” Ava’s face immediately fell when she heard those words. “It’s Damien’s baby!” Beth raised her chin triumphantly and continued showing off. “Ava, let me tell you. Ever since I got pregnant, Damien listens to everything I say! He never has the heart to scold me. I heard that he doesn’t even smile whenever he’s with you. Am I right?” Ava tightened her grip on the strap of her handbag. She raised her head and looked at Beth with a sharp gaze. “Is that so? Since he loves the baby in your womb so much, why didn’t he accompany you for the prenatal checkup?” Beth’s expression froze, and she snorted. “It’s not like you don’t know that he dislikes hospital. I’ve called him, and he’s waiting for me outside right now.”| Beth was only lying to show off, but it so happened that Damien was outside the hospital right now. She had successfully hurt Ava. Ava felt like her heart was
being stabbed by a knife. It turned out that he didn’t leave after sending her to the hospital not because he wanted to wait for her! It was because of Beth! Sure enough, she was indeed thinking too highly of herself. That man would never treat her so nicely. All he wanted was to divorce her! Ava’s face paled, and the smile on her face froze.
