Chapter 118
Chapter 118
Lorraine held Luna in her arms as she walked to the couch. She placed Luna on the couch before turning to her desk drawer to get some snacks. “I usually like to have some snacks with me as I read.”
She then placed the snacks on the coffee table for Finnegan and Luna to enjoy. Staring at the weather outside the window, she said to Logan, “I’m thinking of taking all of us for a drive into the mountains after resting a little. The area isn’t overdeveloped, so the natural scenery is still very much preserved.”
Logan replied, “Of course.”
He had no objections. Having all four of them together for an outing would be good for fostering their relationship.
Lorraine asked, “You’re going back to work at the construction site tomorrow, right?”
“Yeah, but I can still take a few more days off if you’re busy with work.”
It would not be a problem for Logan to take a few more days off with William around.
Suddenly, William popped up in Logan’s imagination, protesting, “It will be a problem! A very big one!”
Logan immediately dismissed the imaginary William in his mind. William didn’t have a say in this.
Lorraine gave him a sideway glance, her eyes filled with self–doubt and guilt. He immediately realized what she was thinking and awkwardly smiled.
“Alright, alright, I’m not taking any more days off. I’ll go back to work tomorrow, and I won’t take any more leave unless something big happens. I’ll do my best to work hard and earn even more money.”
Logan then held her hand and continued, “Lorraine, I may not be successful, nor do I know how to reassure you with my words. But I just want to tell you that you’re my wife, and I’ll be supporting you through thick and thin. I will even hold up the sky if it were to fall on you.
“You shouldn’t worry so much about money. I may not be extremely successful, but I can still support my wife and kids.” NôvelDrama.Org holds this content.
Pulling her hand back, Lorraine gently pinched his handsome face playfully. “Easier said than done, Logan, considering how lavishly you spend money sometimes. For now, just worried about the sales of my fruits.”
I’m
Sighing, she continued, “All the fruit wholesalers that I’ve been working with for years have canceled their orders. I also realized that all of this is happening because someone is deliberately targeting me.
“I’ve been cooped up in my study thinking about who it could be. Could it be a competitor in the industry? But I’m the only person in this town who has fruit orchards. The other orchardists in the other towns are unlikely to have any conflict of interest with me.”
The orchardists stuck to their own plots within their own towns and would not simply cross over to steal other fellow orchardists‘ business unless they were all growing different
kinds of fruits.
“It’s about time for the Sentennial cherries to hit the market, and we’re still not done picking the Bing and Meteor cherries yet. As for the other variants, Staccato cherries are also
forecasted for a bountiful harvest this year.
“I had assumed that I would be able to make a big profit from the bumper harvest this year and maybe even pay off a chunk of the loan. I never expected all of this to happen.”
Lorraine was truly worried about the sales of her fruits.
Logan comforted her, “There will always be a way out. The wholesalers may have stopped working with you, but perhaps there will be an even larger merchant willing to work with you.”
Lorraine smiled, knowing that he was just trying to comfort her. “I’ll just have to pick the fruits and try selling them to the fruit stalls in the city if I don’t manage to find a wholesaler in time. It’ll be less profitable, but it’s still better than letting the fruits rot on the trees.”
She did not have the capital to set up a fruit processing plant right now, so this was the best she could do.
Lorraine continued, “What I really want to know right now is who’s targeting me. Whoever it was, they must hate me a lot to be going so far as to convince all of my wholesale customers to cancel their orders.
“They must have also spent a lot of money to do so, or they couldn’t have convinced my customers to do as they were told. The wholesalers would have no reason to call off the deal if they weren’t getting any benefits in return.”
She suspected that Jocelyn might be behind all of this.
It was because Lorraine and Jocelyn were arch–enemies. During the class reunion, Jocelyn failed to gain an advantage over Lorraine, and she also failed to make a joke out of
Lorraine.
Given Jocelyn’s personality, she would not let Lorraine go easily.
Jocelyn also had the financial means to pull the strings around the wholesalers to retaliate against Lorraine.
Thinking of such a possibility, Lorrain once again swore to herself that she would work hard to earn even more money in order to become a powerful woman through her own
abilities.
It was so that she could one day take revenge on all those who had targeted and hurt her.
Lorraine was not the type of person to take things lying down. She might repay kindness with kindness, but she would often take revenge on the spot. And if she could not do so immediately, she would just remember it and take revenge when the opportunity arose.
For Lorraine, it was never too late to enact revenge.
