Love's Redemption

Redmption 96

Redmption 96

As expected, the moment I answered Bree’s call, she asked me to come home. for dinner. I knew it was just an excuse She must have had something else.

she wanted to discuss.

“Bree, I’ve enjoyed the tacos you made, but I really can’t come home right now. The amusement park project is in a rush to meet the deadline, and I’m working day and night.

“I’ll come back when I get a break.” I declined but also promised.

“Sigh, why is Chris making you rush through a tight deadline? It’s not like the world is ending. I’ll scold him for this later.” Bree huffed playfully.

“It’s not his fault, Bree. The deadline was fixed long ago,” I explained.

Chris had never let our personal issues affect work.

“Alright then, work is important.” Bree hung up, clearly upset and disappointed.

But there was no helping it. I was truly busy with work. Even if I weren’t, I couldn’t just drop by Gildon estate like I used to. Perhaps with enough disappointment, she’ll eventually come to accept it.

People come and go from each other’s lives constantly. First my parents, then Chris, and now the Gildons.

While having breakfast with Kara, I didn’t see Brandon.

“Hey, didn’t Mr. Howell agree to go to the amusement park with us? Why did he leave early?” Kara wondered aloud.

I didn’t respond.

Kara nudged me with her shoulder. “Maddie, Mr. Howell truly cares about you. He specifically asked me to return to take care of you last night. He said you’d been drinking. Were you drinking with him?”

“No!”

“Then how did he know you were drinking?” Kara was full of questions.

“He saw me.”

“Oh, I see.” Kara gave me a penetrating look as if trying to read my mind.

“Don’t bother. There’s nothing going on between us.” I answered the question she was too embarrassed to ask.

Kara laughed. “It’s alright even if there was. Even though I admire Mr. Howell’s looks, it’s merely just like how I admire male celebrities.”

Kara was pretty clear–headed about it.

“We’ll–admire him together then,” I said before ending the conversation. We then quickly finished our breakfast and left for the amusement park.

Brandon had already started working. Kara greeted him. “You’re here early, Mr. Howell. Why didn’t you come with us?”

“It was more convenient this way,” Brandon replied, making Kara stick out her tongue playfully.

We began immersing ourselves in work, and we made good progress. Soon, it

was noon. Kara was about to order takeout when a luxury car drove up.

I recognized the car. It was Bree’s. It looked like she really had urgent matters to discuss since she came here personally when I couldn’t go.

“You guys go ahead,” I told Kara as I walked over to Bree.

Bree got off, while the driver opened the trunk, revealing several lunchboxes.

“Maddie, I prepared these for everyone.” I was surprised at Bree’s gesture.

“Bree, you didn’t have to go through all this trouble.” I was feeling slightly embarrassed.

“You can’t eat takeout every day. It’s unhealthy. Ask them to come over and get these.” Bree said, glancing far out.

Brandon was still working, while Kara was on her phone ready to order takeout. For some reason, I had a feeling Bree was looking at Brandon.

“Kara, Mrs. Gildon brought us lunch. You don’t have to order takeout anymore.” I called out.

Kara looked surprised and skipped over. She bowed to Bree. “Thank you, Your Highness, Mrs. Gildon, we’re so lucky to be treated to this royal lunch.”

Bree was amused, “If you like it, I’ll bring you meals every day.”

“Oh no, that’s not necessary,” Kara wisely refused. “An occasional treat is more than enough.”

Bree walked over to Brandon, and I followed closely. She looked around. “So, is this what you’ve been busy with lately?”
