Chapter 229
Chapter 229
"Bring it on, who's scared?" Daisy couldn't help but laugh. "I've never seen someone play the victim like you! Sean, just show them your ID!"
Cordelia: "..
Like he had an ID.
Now what?
"Well then, show it, let everyone see!" Queenie pressed on. "Cordelia, won't you ask him to show his ID?"
Cordelia remained silent.
Truth be told, Everard sneaking into class was wrong, and Cordelia knew she had messed up. She hung her head, unsure of what to say.
But then Keen stood up. "Mr. Waldron, he's indeed not a student here; he's a friend of mine who wanted to join and learn some math with us. He loves math a lot. Could you perhaps overlook this?"
Mr. Waldron was flabbergasted upon hearing this. "He's not a student, and yet he's been here for three days?"
Such negligence was unheard of in the Autumn Gold Academic Bootcamp!
He furrowed his brows. "Everyone involved, follow me!"
Since it was study hour, the rest of the class went back to their books, leaving Everard and the others to follow Mr. Waldron out. Daisy, wide-eyed, turned to Cordelia. "Wait, he's really not Sean?"
Cordelia shook her head.
Daisy swallowed. "Then who is he?"
Suddenly realizing something, Daisy blurted out, "Is he your boyfriend?"
Cordelia nodded.
Daisy was shocked. "I knew it! How could our top student ever cheat!"
So that was the situation!
Ignoring Daisy, Cordelia got up and followed the others.
Halfway to the office, Keen pulled Cordelia aside, whispering, "Just say he's my friend."
Cordelia: "?"
Keen, taller and leaning down slightly, explained, "You already had issues with Lucille last time, so it's better not to stir up more trouble. Just say he's my friend."
Cordelia: ".
Despite not understanding why Keen would help her, she shook her head. "No need."Nôvel/Dr(a)ma.Org - Content owner.
She believed in taking responsibility for her actions.
Seeing her refusal, Keen urgently tried again, "Please, just listen..."
But Cordelia quickened her pace, following the teachers into the office.
Daisy, now outside too, was frantic. "She's got guts, bringing her boyfriend to class... It's scary and thrilling!"
Then, hitting herself on the head, she said, "What am I thinking? I need to figure out a way to help her!"
Pretend not to know him!
Yes, if Cordelia doesn't know him, then only Everard would be punished, not her!
With this plan in mind, Daisy brightened up and followed everyone into the office.
Mr. Waldron was already there, scanning them. "Alright, what's the story here? And you, who are you?"
Everard, with his laid-back attitude, hardly seemed like a student. How had Mr. Waldron not noticed?
Just as this thought crossed his mind, Daisy spoke up. "Mr. Waldron, she doesn't know him!" Mr. Waldron: ".
It was a clear attempt to cover up.
Queenie scoffed. "Don't know him? Then why eat together? We've all seen him using Cordelia's meal card. That's something anyone eating in the cafeteria would know!"
Daisy stammered. "That's because he tricked her, saying he forgot his card. He was mooching off her!"
Queenie continued. "But last night, I saw Cordelia helping him over the school wall. There must be surveillance footage. You can check!"
Then, an idea struck her. "Right, Cordelia also snuck out last night. The cameras should've caught that too!"
Looking at Mr Waldron, she
pressed, "Cordelia's been neglecting her studies to sneak out and bring outsiders into the school. With all these issues, Mr. Waldron, you have to punish her! Otherwise, what's the discipline at Autumn Gold Academic Bootcamp worth?"
Mr. Waldron, his brows knitted, turned to Cordelia. "What do you have to say?"
Cordelia sighed. "I was wrong, sir."
She gestured to Everard. "This is my boyfriend. As for last night, a friend was hospitalized with a bleeding ulcer, and it was too late to ask for leave.
I'm ready to accept any punishment from Autumn Gold Academic Bootcamp, even if it means expulsion."
Mr. Waldron, appreciating her
honesty, said Acknowledging your
mistake is commendable. don
But make sure such errors don't
repeat. Considering your poor conduct, you'll receive a zero for your Autumn Gold Academic Bootcamp grade. Any objections?"
Cordelia immediately nodded. "No objections."
Queenie, fuming, retorted, "Mr. Waldron, is that all the punishment she gets? That's too lenient!"
After the Autumn Gold Academic
Bootcamp wrapped up, those who
shined would get a chance at
discounted admission into
prestigious universities, and then, if they landed in the top 60 at the national math competition, they'd be fast-tracked straight into college.
For the average Joe, scoring zero was pretty much a ticket out of the running.
But for Cordelia, it was a non-issue - she had already been fast-tracked by Superiority College!
Seeing Queenie on the warpath, Waldron was at a loss for words. "The Autumn Gold Academic Bootcamp is just that - a camp, not an official school. All we can do is score her a zero. It's just one of those things."
Queenie looked ready to explode, but then a booming voice came from outside: "What's the trouble here?"
Hearing that familiar voice, Waldron shot up. "Mr. Thomas? What brings you here again?!"
With that, Frankie strolled in, full of pep. He scanned the room, his gaze finally resting on Everard, causing him to pause momentarily.
At the same time, Queenie's eyes lit up. "Mr. Thomas, your timing couldn't be better. Cordelia, she's not only neglected her studies but also made some serious blunders. I think Superiority College should seriously reconsider her fast-track agreement!"
Mr. Thomas was known for his strict adherence to the rules. This encounter was indeed fortuitous.
Cordelia's fate seemed sealed to be a dire one!
